Unusual Figure Identified

Our very good friend Peter Evans   has identified the unusual figure I posted here. Here is what he said.

The figure is made in Hong Kong by LUCKY TOYS

It’s an official from a motor racing set – sold in the mid 60s.

Thank you all for your thoughts and help on this matter. The figure will now go in my collection.

I recently picked up a rare figure, he’s only the second one I have ever seen. I’m sure some if not all of you know that the Marx 60mm pioneers revised poses came out in two stages. The original figure firing a pistol and the guy running with the rifle were the only two that had three versions, when they first came out they were rather awful looking and had a hard time standing them up. Well, in between the original uglies and the the finished version they came out with these two guys without the full stand they have now, but rather tufts of grass acting as a stand. I had seen the guy firing a flintlock pistol numerous times, but prior to winning one on e-bay, I had only seen the guy running with the rifle one other time. I now have all three versions of each and the evolution is complete.

From the looks of this pose I would bet that he is missing a flag from his left hand. You know, the checkered flag that signaled the start and finish of a race. Thoughts?
