Plastic Figures from Around the world

rsz_043Plastic figures over the years I have been amazed by the wide variety of plastic figures that have been produced. The above plastic figures I  found in a junk box. The figures were made in Hong Kong. I figured they were with a doll set.  I have a feeling that it is a Blue Box figure.

The next plastic figure is something Laurie picked up in Bermuda years ago.  The figure is a three inch figure of a Bermuda policeman in a traffic control or the bird cage.  The bird cage is in the center of town in Hamilton Bermuda.  This piece is an example of some of the plastic souvenir figures you will find at various tourist attractions  from around the world. Most are just generic copies from China, but once and awhile you will find original figures like the one above.

The next plastic figures I am looking at are the Archer Space figures. These figures were very popular in the early 50’s the hardest figures to find were the spacewoman with baby and the boy. Some of the figures were reissued by Glencoe Models a number of years ago but are not into production now.

This figure is a PVC figure of  Captain Harlock a popular Japanese cartoon series in the 70’s. I used to get this figure in United Kingdom in the early 80’s .  I would find the figure for around a pound.  One of times I got the figure was when I went to a toy show on a Wednesday night in a school in a suburb  of London. The figure is not popular today because the show has not been on in years.

I will close this article with a picture of two of the Marx 54mm West Point Cadets. These figures were only offered in the Marx Military Academy playset in 1954. There were eleven different poses. The figures were reissued in Mexico in bags.

The two girls are HK were sold generic under BB playset (Ferris Wheel ) with other civilian figures also used in the BLUE BOX CABLE RAILWAYS PLAYSET that was a direct copy of German 1960’s LEHMANN G SCALE RIGI 900 TIN CABLE CAR SKI LIFT. The two girls were later used in many other generic-different BB and also other HK brand playset/bags sets as well in 70’s.Later reissue in hard plastic wasted mold as cake topper.
I don’t know if the two girls poses were also direct copied from Lehmann civilian poses or not. The Ferris Wheel playset had a woman with small child , a dad with a boy and balloon and few seated poses as far I can remember.
I love the space figures, I got the Glencoe reissues from 90’s and two original. I also like the AJAX space matching figures did in same style too.Ironically I swap the original AJAX x HK painted copies as I like more the colors,HK copies were identical.
That Bermuda police looks great ,I will hunt one for my colonial scenes. I could use it in India,HK,Singapore else.
Captain Harlock. I saw the last large film/carton done and is great, too bad not more done, the figure was done much before the movie and it is exact the same in all. Nice interesting selection admin.

This is completely off-topic but I’m curious to know if anyone can tell me a good source for the Airfix 1/32 multipose figure kits. I think they were re-issued last year. Are there any mail order hobby stores that would carry these? Thanks.

They are all over on eBay, old vintage and three reissues sets.
I do have one US infantry vintage set x sale on eBay, the later reissues were done in a more fragile plastic than vintage sets.
The afrika korps vintage not reissued are still around for a bit high price.
Japanese multipose sets are very hard to get, I got one ,looking for another but only in Australia with insane shipping cost.
When looking at eBay type (Airfix 1:32 scale multipose toy soldiers)

  4. Ted: Bad Cat Toys is a distributor of airfix-humbrol

WWII US Infantry Multipose Starter Set 1:32 A55212 $15.99

WWII British Infantry Multipose Starter Set 1:32 A55211 $15.99

Hey PG thanks for the info, those prices are more reasonable than the ebay prices I see. My job sometimes takes me near Oakdale, so I will check it out. A friend wants to scratch build some 1/32 scale pirates from these kits.

They are all over in ebay .The old and new reissues.Just type airfix mulipose 1:32 scale toy soldiers.Because considered kits will appear under military kits category more.
I have one set myself listed on eBay x sale now.A vintage one in almost mint condition x low price.US infantry
The new recast are more fragile and more mold overage on it.
The afrika korps and marines also appear not that high $.
The multipose Japanese set is the hardest as less released .I have one but looking x other to convert.Every time ones appear it is in Australia and shipping is insane x just one old case .
