Plastic Figure Showcase October 2016

Plastic Figure Showcase October 2016 we will cover some interesting items. We have some photos from our good friend Markus Leckscheid. They are from a Kinder Egg collectors show. Next I went to a local yard sale which stated in their ad vintage toys. I did not get vintages but  ended up a nice lot of superhero figures.  Also some other figures in 45mm scale by Hasbro  were in the lot.  finally I will dig into the collection and other sources for some interesting  figures.

Plastic Figure Showcase October 2016 Kinder Egg Show

Plastic Figure Showcase October 2016

Our very good friend Markus Leckscheid went to a Kinder Egg Show near his home in Germany. He was surprised that there were still shows for Kinder Egg as the interest had wan. At one time they were like the beanie babies here. Markus found the show interested especially for the steck figuren or plug figures. Kinder Egg did a number of figures. You can see in the photo Napoleonics. Vikings and Spacemen among others. The figures are static poses. I have used the Napoleonic as staff officers.

I saw in the newspaper that a yard sale was going to have vintage toys. I went to the sale as it was close to home.  Arriving at the sale  I found the vintage toys unexciting. The toys soldiers were very common Processed Plastic figures.  Walking out I saw some superhero figures.  They were 54mm in scale and up.  I was looking over the figures a seller said she did not want to deal with them. She gave me a plastic bag and said fill bag. I fill the bags with over fifty figures. The woman charged me only $2.00!

The figures covered both Marvel and DC.   I wanted as a child to have superhero figures for my stories. I ended up  making my own. Later Ideal came out with their superhero figures. Now you can get  superheroes in various sizes.  The figures in the first photo are 54mm.  The Marvel  figures in are  60mm.

In the lot were these figures from Hasbro. Do you know who they are?

The first  figure on the left is Bat-Mite. I enjoyed the stories he was in as a child. The other figure I have no idea who he is.

Plastic Figure Showcase October 2016The first figure is Sergeant Biff O’Hara from Rin Tin Tin. He was done by Jescan. It was a figure I wished Marx had done.

Impressive how many kinder eggs, I got many of then, one of harder are the beautiful, cross bowman knights so well designed, I think the solid colors Napoleonic are early type wile others in color parts are later. They are nice true 54 mm and well detailed figures you can move some arms to create nice poses.
I had seen the early not painted sold as FERREIRO too. The pirates and samurais are great too.
The Zorro and character poses are hard to get too.
No clue on space figures Hollo type maybe !?Also look like micro machine raven figures but in tall scale.
The robot type figure next to Bat-Mite is a Japanese comic TV series character, I do not recall it now..
Who is the lady w cane!?

  2. Bill Nevins says:

Erwin, That’s Little Bo Peep, who has not lost her sheep, yet.
I like the O’Hara figure. The pose reminds me of a Dulcop Cavalrymen, but the Jescan is much better quality.
I really love the European western stuff. They did so many more figures than just Cowboys and Indians. Lots of Townsfolk poses to fill up your town. I have a couple of sets of railroad workers from Jescan or Reamsa and they are great around your RR depot.

I would love to see pictures of Erwins western collection.

      Thank you Bill.
      Not recall see her,interisting figure.
One day I will set as much mine and do photos.I have it split by countries in many cases on the old painted, otheres not painted are in else.
Spaniards brand are the most and vast of all western brands collection by exelense, their US cavalry poses sets too…Same in buildings…They did what not body though would be done.
But most run from 60 to 75 mm

I always thought the Marx 60mm guy kneeling firing rifle was supposed to be Biff.

  4. Wayne W says:

The “Biff” figure isn’t a bad pose, either – usable; unlike many of the Marx character figures who were often just standing around. I always loved the variety of European subjects when I was over there – I just found many of the poses a bit TOO animated for my taste. But again, a matter of personal preference.

  5. I love Kinder Steck Figuren. Those Hasbro figures are from one of the Transfomers movies, and the figure next to Batmite is from one of the TMNT movies.

  6. Jack Gibbons says:

The Hasbro figures came with a Transformer car/truck. The first movie tie- featured good-looking character figures dressed in current US Army desert uniforms with accurate weapons.

  7. TDBarnecut says:

So where were kinder egg figures made and who made them? Is there a website with pictures of the whole range? Will someone reissue them someday? Too many questions?

    • erwin says:

Kindder EGG toys were commission BY Kinder ,Ferriro and few other candy- chocolate companies from 60’s till now to unknown small toy makers and few recognized ,most historical/military figures were from 60 till late 80’s and as typical surprise or premium figures will not be reissued.
I had never heard any been reissued from those type small surprise toys .
There in sale at eBay or from international sellers as vintage or collectible now .
Actual toys from KE and Ferreiro are base in most carton children comics film from 90’s till now and active as far fame and fury of film character pass and then become collectible too. Very quick indeed.
I own many plus elfs and Gnomes very german traditional toys in plastic more folklore and Christmas related than else too.
It had take me over 20 years collect many of then price may range from 50 cents to up 75.00 or more a piece each easy depending in character, pose or rarity plus era and condition.
Hope this answer few of the questions.
      Best regards.

I saw a few of the put together figures being offered for sale at the Numenberg toy fair. these figures had been offered for sale inKinder before and are quite rare like Tarzan.
There are companies that did Kinder type figures, One Spanish company did 54mm Egyptians.

        • Erwin says:

Also the rare horrible history figures resemble a bit those KE figures too x me.
The spanirad figures are even harder to get .I had seen very few.
          Same in Feerrero.
I manage get entire lord of the ring three film sets from Kinder plus book box, very nice set in 1/35 scale.
Very well done figures in full color painting, come out with movies.
They are still around sold in set bags.
These come out not as Egg but in pack bags I think.
