That looks cool. I got one for my birthday in 1966 or 67. Speaking of new toys for 2012, is anyone going to the NY Toy Fair in Feb? I ask because I read where a company called The Bridge Direct got the toy license for the “Hobbit” movie. The president of this company was running Play Along Toys when they produced the “Armies of Middle Earth” line of 1/32-1/30 ish figures. I am curious to see if this company will produce figures in this 1/32-1/30 (3 inch scale) for the Hobbit movie.

I don’t know anyone who is going to the NY Toy Fair. Most the people who would go have dropped the fair due to the fact after walking the Javitz Center you would not find anything worthwhile or have twenty other people interested in it. The Javits Center is the length of the Statue of Liberty laid on its side. The toy fair will have 1200 exhibitors and cover 350,000 square feet. This is not the largest show at the Javits Center, the New York International Gift which is next week takes over the entire Javits Center and one of the port terminals. It will use 650,000 square feet and have 2500 exhibitors.
I did the show for years but gave it up when I got the human job. I will be getting some trade magazines and wil be watching some web sites. One site you can check is Action Figure News. As we get more information we will let you know.

Thanks Stad. Sometimes our scale shows up unexpected in the big retail chains. Last month I picked up 2 and1/4 inch helmet-less Thor (movie version) at Big Lots. His head would make a nice Marx-like Custer or Viking in conversion. I’ll keep checking your site for news and also check Action Figure news regarding the “Hobbit” figures.

I will be watching the news from the toy fair myself. I really enjoyed the Playalong figures and hope they pick up doing the smaller scale. Big Lots can come up with some surprises. I got a nice 54mm ambulance with stretcher party.
