Fort Courage from F Troop

unnamed14Our very good friend Floyd sent this picture of MPC F Troop Fort Courage box he got from a friend. The pieces were cardboard and the figures were on magnetic stands which you moved around. I sold one years ago and I have not seen one in years. I checkedĀ  Ebay and found no listings for the item, just a Fort Courage from Dimensions for Children.

I had a football game as kid that you moved the players around with magnets via the underside of the field. The players were a soft rubber or vinyl with a magnet as their base. It wasn’t really practical having four magnetic sticks moving around under the small field, but it was fun. I may still have some of the players somewhere.Wish I knew who made it, I loved that game.

Both Larry Storch and James Hampton are still with us and they were at Chiller in the Spring. Ken Berry is also still with us.

F Troop was the kind of show they used to make but regrettably, don’t anymore.

I found the football players on e-bay , but not the rest of the game. I’m on a quest who made that game.

I picked up one of these sets on EBAY many years ago. I think they mislabeled the auction as I won it for about $10. After winning I began to worry I paid that money for a piece of junk. However, it ended up being a really nice set. I used to collect all things HO scale, and I figures these would be Giant knock-offs. The figures were unique, and around 35mm. Yes, the magnet sticks and the magnets in the figures’ bases were a little different. But still a nice find for a show tie-in.

I think the last time it was out of the box was when my 15 year-old was 3. It may be time to go into the basement storage area and resurrect a lost “treasure.”
