It has been Nearly a Year

It has been nearly a year since I was in the hospital for my atrial fibrillation. Since that year I have kept my weight down from high of 345 pounds to my present weight of 255. I feel so much better and I  enjoy going to work out twice a week.

It has given me a new perspective on eating. I am very conscious on my salt intake.  I have not been in a fast food restaurant except for Subway and Fireman’s Sub in the past year.  I have a web site booked marked showing the latest  fast food, which I read for the sodium content of fast food. For example a McDonalds Triple Cheese Burger has 1160 milligrams of sodium and we have not talked about the French fries which they salt as well. Thank goodness we have diners to go to where you can get some great meals for under $10.00.

My plan for this year is to try and get another 20 pounds off and keep on my exercise regime.

90 pounds, good for you! I dropped a little, just ’cause I needed to (and need to drop some more). Luckily, I didn’t have a health crisis to make me do it.

You are right about the salt in the fast food. I haven’t completely removed it from my diet, but I can really taste it when I grab a quick lunch at McD’s or a similar place.

Keep up the good health work.

Thanks for the kind words, you should try to find a diner where you get a great meal over fast food Laurie has to work late on every other Thursday. I go to a local diner for a fish diner with soup potato and vegetable. Lunch is usually a salad, crackers and hard boiled egg in apple cider vinegar.

I was literally drowning in water. My left leg was twice to three times it size, red and weeping water. They drain forty pounds of water weight off of me in the hospital and I got another 50 pounds off at home. It was a struggle.

  4. I don’t want make French bashing here but French fries are the enemies… Take care my friend.

No French bashing was intended, I still get French fries occasionally when we go to one of our diners we like. When we go to one of the diners they give you your French fries that have not been salted. If you go to a fast food restaurant they salt the fries before you get them. You have to ask them not to salt with no guarantees. Last week we had a late dinner where I had French fries and Laurie had sweet potato fries. Usual when we go out I get mash potatoes or home fries.

Good job though, 345 pounds is a big man. I was up to 175 the heaviset of my life, but I’m down to the middleweigth limit now 160. Not drinking beer and lots of pop everyday was the key for me.
