Part Two London Toy Soldier Show, I have few more photos from my friend Michael Smith. I have seen reports talking about the show being smaller but better. I will also put up links to videos of the show.

Another friend Peter Evans, is looking at various boxes of plastic figures. This show had more plastic figures than other London Toy Soldier Shows. Peter had a knee replacement this week which went successful.

Shelves of figures

Timpo figures and a Marx German in the background. In the upper left corner, there are five white gloves Confederates. These figures are rare. Unfortunately, they are fakes. The gloves have been painted. This is one of the major figures that has been faked.

Conversion Update

Brian Johnson asked who made these figures. I checked with my German friends and Detlef Heerbrand gave me the answer. The person who made these is Tad Toys. He has items up on Ebay Germany. You can see an example in this listing.

Greg Liska’s information on Figures

Greg has found some figures that you might be interested in. I will let him explain.

It seems the DGN Germans, Japanese, US, and British have been copied (?) and released in the big orders like the older figures done by Hing Fat (I believe).

In case no one remembers, these were released in tubes where you got about 15 figures and a flag. The challenge was always to get enough to find out just how many poses there were. I believe one tube cost $6.50.

Well, now you can get a huge pile containing roughly 48 of each nationality. I ordered 2 and it took 2 to get all the poses, but they were present in decent numbers when I placed them all together. There are 16 German poses and 15 Japanese. The British are the standard 12 copied from Matchbox and the US is the same with an added rifleman pose and bazooka, which was also found in the Hing Fat sets, so there was nothing new from them.

Some interesting things about the Germans; come with a 60mm Mortar man, a prone firing the rarely seen Zb-26 LMG, an outstanding radio operator pose, a figure firing some sort of made up handheld AT weapon, an MG 42 2-man team, most of the poses are completely new, some are Airfix copies and on them the helmets are generally poorly done.

Most of the Japanese are unique poses, but there are some Airfix copies in there, as well. The Japanese are decently done with finer detail and overall better sculpting. Many of the poses parallel the Hing Fat poses but are different enough. The only downside to me is the lack of LMGs and mortars. I was able to scrape up a bunch of Airfix copy LMG and mortar men to round it out and added the different Hing Fat poses in as well.

Why do I believe they are clones? The bases are oval instead of rectangular and they are cast in a softer plastic (a plus). I’ve compared them to the DGN figures and there is no discernable size difference.

If you’re into the ‘adult collectibles’ where you pay $40 for 8 figures and they claim absolute perfect accuracy (until A-holes like me look at them) then it’s not for you, but if you liked these sort of campy toy soldiers when they came out and never got the chance to get all the poses or get the numbers you hoped for; here they are!  you can buy them here

    Hi Greg .
The DGN/HF “clones” figures are same as before in amount poses and description of weapons else we got back in 2013/14 when figures first show up .The Japanese are actually base in HO scale ESCI poses mix with Airfix poses .And were reworked poses of previews 1990 made set .The Americans always have those poses and base in Matchbox HO that have the bazooka men .You did the post covering some of the set here also in 2014 .What happen before when first come out is, they sold then in tubes with mix not full set poses and we had to buy several tubes to get all poses .I distribute then for short time from supplier and rework all tubes to complete full set poses.
See some of your pose link below .

Are the DGN 51mm or the smaller 54mm scale. Would they match with original Airfix, Matchbox, or Marx figures?

    • Erwin F Sell says:

The early DGN/HF production from 2013-2014 match pretty well with most Airfix(Some Airfix are taller than others) ,Marx .The Matchbox are generally 56-58 mm and thicker generally blending better with Conte ,later CTS,TSSD but if not too demanding they go with them as well .I usen mine fine with all above .DGN run from 51 to 55 mm depending of set ,pose else .I will think these later recast clones are the same scale just with different bases .I do not have these new clones ,i have the first in all sets poses .
