Peter Evans' Latest Project battered Germans

Peter’s latest project was to take damaged Germans and make a new figure. Here is what Peter said about this project.

I recently bought some bags of figures from an antique stall. There were lots of broken, brittle, and damaged figures but I always look at these as repair and renovation of conversion material.

In the bag were some Lone Star and Charbens Afrika Korps figures – quite damaged and ‘played with’ but I thought that I could combine various parts and like Baron Frankenstein bring back the dead.

The figure with the least damage was the advancing soldier.

He was given the Lone Star head and the rifle arm from the leaping man. I turned the rifle into a stick grenade by cutting it down and making the top out of rolled paper.

The figure was also given a Timpo Luger I had spare. Then it was coated with PVA glue to bond everything together, then primed and painted.

It is very much a ‘toy’ figure but a nice addition to the collection.

Here is a back view of the figure. I can’t wait to see his next project.

Peter Evans' Latest Project pirates

Here are two pirates that I picked up at an auction earlier this year. I do not know who made them. I know I should have had them up for Talk Like a Pirate Day, but honestly, I don’t when it is and really don’t care as I am not into the fake holidays. (If you are fine.) I am not into regular holidays either. It is because of having worked the holidays and Laurie was not into the holidays.

Zizzle pirates

I am happily surprised when a company makes toy figures for their licensed product. One example was Zizzle’s Pirates of the Caribbean. Here we have the Chinese pirate set. I will show some the blind figures in the future.

Great job on the Afrika Korps officer, Peter. Always a pleasure – and inspiring in my own efforts.

  4. Markus says:

Think Peters German Afrika Korps looks much healthier than Baron Frankensteins creature (sorry to Boris Karloff and a tribute to Abbot and Costello meeting him).
BTW got some of the Pirates of Carribean bubble carded sets at our local Woolworth.
    How time flies….

  5. Erwin F Sell says:

I like much the dynamism and pose creatively by P Evans in the DAK figure ,it remains me of Atlantic pose ,I would no imagine making it up out of what it was before .
    Great job!!.

  6. TD Barnecut says:

At one time somebody mentioned a website devoted to toy soldier conversions.
Does anyone know what website that was?

  7. peter Evans says:

Thank you for your kind comments

  8. Eric Pederson says:

Nice figures! A theatre of war too long neglected.

Anyone in Toy Soldier Land know who makes the Krampus figure with the child holding onto the back of his sack?

  9. Craig W. Scribner says:

Great conversion on the Afrika Korps figure, Peter! Thanks for sharing and please keep up the great work!
