Something New Something Old January 2023 Frederico’s Conversions

Odds Ends January 2023 japanese
I received an email from a new contributor from Italy Frederico Salva. Frederico was kind to send samples of some of the conversions he has done I’m Federico from Italy.
I send you the photos of the toy soldiers that I modified last year.
These are four WWII Japanese infantrymen made using Atlantic and Res plastic pieces (and a lot of Airfix putty, especially on the faces.
 Backside of figures
The detail that Frederico has done on these figures is amazing
Dak Officer
Here we have a Dak officer made from Atlantic pieces. I will have more photos of his conversions in future posts. Frederico told me has most of the Atlatnlantic figures in his collection except western. They are very expensive. He said the Atlantic hanging man went for 184 Euros (195.00) a month ago.

 Something New Something Old Swoppets
One thing about swoppets is if you have parts you can do minor repairs or conversions. The above two figures were missing their heads and I was able to put new heads on the bodies and get new figures. I can always use more Mexican figures.
 Something New Something Old Timpo
This figure showed up in the massive collection I purchased. I wondered if the previous owner was trying to do a Robert Duvall-type figure from Apolocyase Now. I like the figure as can use him as military or even police.
Something New Something Old Robin Hood
I am still having problems with my new camera. sometimes the photos are fine other times not. I will be doing this one again but I want to get it up to see if anyone knows why someone copied the Britains Robin Hood in 90mm. I have the same pose larger which was a souvenir from Nottingham. Was this a souvenir?

Frederico’s conversions are great and his painting is top notch.
In the archer photo you can see that the camera focused on the background. If you zoom in you can see the little bits of plastic or paint chips there in sharp focus.
With most digital cameras / phone cameras you can touch the spot you want to focus on in the display screen and the camera will focus on that spot. Another technique you can try which works well with moving objects as well, is to make a video of the object and then scroll through the video images to find the best still image.

Some cameras have a minimum focusing distance, so you might have to move back just a bit at times to allow it to autofocus on your subject. Also, the more light you can get on your subject, the easier it is for your camera to autofocus. At least that’s been my experience. Thanks for all you do, Paul!
