Seasons Greeting December 2022 Merry Christmas

Seasons Greeting December 2022 Merry Christmas, may your holidays be merry and bright. My Christmas will be quiet just Sparky and me. It will be the first Christmas that I will not be sharing the holiday with one of my family. It has been a hard year for me with the loss of the love of my life Laurie. Add to that my health issues and other losses of Quinn and a good friend I will be glad when this year is over.

One thing I know is I have the support of my friends in various ways. Just sending a card like the one above from Peter Evans and Rickie Thaxter. Other friends will send me emails. This will keep me going in this dark time. I hope to see some of them at various shows next year.

Christian Aldo, the moderator of the Mars WWII 1/32 Facebook group, is developing a range of WWII 3D-printed figures. He has shown uncorrected artist renders of Germans for the Battle of the Bulge wearing came smocks over greatcoats. The six-pose set is due early in 2023. You can see the poses here
Fast forward to 9 minutes, and 45 seconds. I had the photos but they seemed to disappear except for this one that shows the back of one of the figures. Thanks to Rahway for the information. Rahway said they are to be done in soft resin.

Merry Christmas Paul and all in the hobby.
Your blog is a light in the hobby.
    You are not alone!!!

Curved swords are being used by muslims/saracens since 7 century least .By the 9 century was well in use in Persian and other Turkish people regions .There were plenty of several variation of curved type swords used centuries before the crusades ,some introduced by early huns and tartar invasion in to Europe in the 4 to 6 centuries but not general adopted ,during early the crusades were well used and by 1200 had been adopted over most straight swords in use , painting made by contemporary muslim artist in book representing it ,as well in Spain museums showing their use before the crusades and during it clearly
Contemporaries book illustration from the early to mid periods of the Abbasid Caliphate such the Tarikhnama books shows them being used by saracen and muslim persian soldiers mounted and on foot .
Several European also used it as well in Mediterranean ,East Europe and Danubian regions regions .By time of first Crusade it was well used widespread but also mix with straight swords in the arabs/muslim soldiers such the older Saif style straight swords.
The main Crusades expanded over 2 centuries .1095-1291
Saracen warriors expanded from 700s till late 1400s .
This set has a long centuries war period uses as the saracens did not change much in armor, weapons and clothing fashion during such periods.
They had early Ottomans, mughals and early indian uses as well
No historical error at all.Very well represented .
New set is welcome but hard to get here unless from Armenia dealers as far I’m aware off.
    Best ..

Merry Christmas to all – and particularly to you, Paul, our host. I hope you’ll be blessed this season and throughout the New Year. I was just sharing with another hobby buddy about how I enjoyed our telephone conversations back in the 90s (before the full advent of the internet) when you had your list and I would call to order. It was such a pleasure to talk to someone who shared my enthusiasm for the “little guys.” You are often in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there, this, too, shall pass.

Merry Christmas fellow collectors! Santa has been very good this year providing me with both sets of Conte Romans adding to my current ranks.

The Saracens are a very welcomed set and will provide a great counter force to my medieval European armies.

Please forgive me for going off topic from this thread but I’m curious about a particular Russian website where I wanted to order some modern Publius Russian figures posted on an earlier thread on this site.

Here’s the link assuming I’m not violating any rules:

    https://www-publius-ru.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

I noticed that the button to add to cart says “In Garbage”. This is translated via Google, by the way.

Does this mean that this vendor is not selling to those countries in the west including America and only domestically?

I’m not naive to the current happenings between the US and Russia over the tragic Ukrainian War.

But if my suspicions are correct, we’re being boycotted probably like they may be over here.

I don’t want to get in to a political discussion on this since I’m sure we all hold our own varying views on the war, but I was wondering if one of my fellow collectors knows where to order these Russian figures for a “reasonable price”. By that I mean $60 (if not less) or so per set, give or take.

I’ve already Google searched and checked Ebay without any success.

Thanks in advance and hope everyone affected by the recent storm stays safe.
