Stad Is Back Home It Is Not a Good Journey

Stad Is Back Home It Is Not a Good Journey, as most of you know on June 7 I fell down backward five steps in the basement. I was pinned on the floor for 45 minutes until I called 911. They got me upstairs and sat me on a chair. I immediately started to get dizzy so they took me to the hospital.

At the hospital, they found I was in worse shape than I thought. They operated the next day putting a rod and fusing three vertebrates in my back. From there I went to trauma and after I was stabilized in rehab. The rehab got me back on my feet and also taught me how to use a walker. After 20 days I am home.

Now I am home with a long road ahead. I am getting outpatient care and will be homebound for the next month. I will start posting very shortly.

I would like to thank the staff of the Lehigh Valley Hospital. They made an unpleasant experience more positive.

Also, I like to thank Erwin Sell for coming down to take our mascots to the vet. There at the vet, another great friend Gloria Hieter took over and got them to a safe place.

Gosh, Paul, that has been quite the ordeal for you. Hang in there. Do you need any reading material–current military history mags, vintage paperbacks or comics, New York Times…? Just let me know; I always have lots on hand and I like to share. (Any others in sick bay too feel free to drop me a line.) Reading has sure helped me through a lot of dark times.

Terrible news! But glad you are on the mend and prayerfully getting better. Thanks to Erwin for taking care of our friend. It’s a great thing the internet connects us across long distances; but at the same time it’s sad we can’t be closer so we can do what real friends do – as did Erwin.

    May you both be blessed.

  14. Greg Liska says:

Just seeing all of this now. So sorry this has happened. all I can say is that I had my spine fused in 2000. It made a world of difference and was the right thing to do. The technology has advanced so much since then, the success rate is almost 100%. I know this will only hold you down until the therapy and healing is complete. My advice, offered out of true concern, is DO the therapy but don’t OVER -DO the therapy. Stay positive Paul, you’ll beat this.

  15. Just read. I am glad you are recovering! Do the physical therapy as directed.
