50th German Plastic Show July 3th

Our very good friend Peter Bergner sent a notice on his next show. Like the one last year, it is open-air due to covid restrictions. Peter tells me that all the spaces were sold and he even added more spaces. It will a good show. We will have photos from the show from our friends that will be there.

Best wishes on the show. I’d love to be able to go there if for no other reason than since I left Germany the last time in 1978 to get a decent schnitzel I’ve had to cook it myself. And I grew up in the “Little Germany” area of Illinois across from St. Louis.

Wish I could go to the German show. They have good quality, quantity, and prices on the Timpo, Elastolin, Plasty, and Britains that I’ve evolved into collecting.
Interesting info about “schnitzel” on Wikipedia. Didn’t realize that almost all countries and cultures have their own versions! My Slovak Grandma used to make it, but (I forgot) what she called it.

My wife used to say it was just like our southern fried steak until I fixed some for her; then there are the different kinds of schnitzel, jaeger schnitzel, wiener schnitzel… my favorite was one the old WW2 vet who owned a schnell-imbiss across from my kaserne, “schnitz mit kase (cheese)” sandwiches. I made the mistake of ordering one in a restaurant in town and was looked at like I had just arrived on a longboat with a torch. I deduced it was a “house specialty.” One I like to make occasionally.

The memories. I’ve always considered Germany my second home nation.
