While I love the level of Detail in these western Figures from PP , their are things that do annoy me. Firstly the Indians in ALL sets so far have been Brilliant and pretty much spot on. The Cavalry have been ok , but the hats have been average (except the bicorne in set #1) Also Custer’s Personal Flag in set 1 was far too small, (suppose to be 5ft by 3ft on the fly) Now looking at this set to come out, Love the pose of Tom Custer , kneeling shooting, Is dressed as he was , but his Hat should be a wider brim Tom and George were dressed similar that day , both with very wide brimmed hats , George’s turned up into a slouch hat on the left side. George’s hair was cut shorter than this pose indicates on the the day. Also nearly every Custer pose ever made has him with 2 pistols drawn. Never seen a figure with him Firing his Rolling Block Rifle. ( He was one of the best shots in the Regiment) would have been nice to do something different than the old 2 pistols drawn.
I know this is just knit picking because the figures do still look amazing , but I am a bit of a stickler to getting things 100% right. I hate having to convert figures.
A mounted Custer moving behind a skirmish lines barking orders 1 pistol drawn would also look great. I hope there is more to come in this series . The more the better.

    Regards,

    Shane

      Here is the translation
you’re absolutely right Shane I’ve been collecting toy soldiers all my life and I’m amazed … IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE OLD AIRFIX FIGURES are STILL the best? their poses are real and very good or some even from Jecsan … and after so many years and decades and a half they have such bad taste to edit figures with such unorthodox poses that they seem to have osteoarthritis and postures that are more circus than Figures inspired by our “idols of the Wild West or Indian wars” that is why the “old boys” still like to continue collecting the old figures that at least have the flavor of when we were children … A lot of technology but little imagination to undertake projects of quality and a lot of variety and little to choose from … without regret … in the long run “Forever the classics”

Some real eye candy. I’ve already said the US paratroopers are my next 1/32 buy, now the Heavy Weapons set it next. Somewhere I’m going to have to get the Fallschirmjaeger.

  4. Rich Fisher says:

The P P Cavalry are great except for the fact they keep arming them with Cap & Ball revolvers( kneeling pose has a Colt Model 1860 Revolver), according to Army records the 7th Cavalry had been issued Colt Army Revolvers Model 1873( The Peacemaker) in 45 caliber( Metallic cartridge) with a 7 1/2″ barrel & the Springfield Trapdoor carbine in 1874.Yes some Colt Percussion revolvers had been converted to cartridges but these revolvers had the cartridge attached to the side of the barrel & the gun in the photo does not have this. Prior to 1874 the standard weapons for the 7Th cavalry had been the Remington Model Percussion Army Revolver & the Spencer Carbine that took a 10 round magazine inserted through the butt end of the carbine.

  5. Rich Fisher says:

OOPS left out the word ejector in the 6th line. Should read “but these revolvers had the cartridge ejector attached to the side of the barrel”. Sorry for any confusion.

  6. ERWIN SELL says:

The pose Carrying a machine gun .What machine gun is that ?
    Looks very short and small.

    • Bobby Moore says:

Both of them are aircooled 30cal. mg’s.. The one being carried by the G.I. running is missing the bipod and a flash suppressor.

      • Wayne W says:

I’m thinking that’s what the tripod the other GI is carrying is for – great touch often forgotten. Just glad it wasn’t the Ma-Deuce. I remember carrying the tripod and spare barrel for the .50 cal from our motor pool to our ammo carrier – I don’t know which was heavier, the actual gun or extras.

    NKVD are @#%^$#$% Assholes!
Nice figures of really evil people.
