Grocery shopping Experience Today

Grocery shopping Experience Today, I never thought I would write about grocery shopping on my blog. The situation we have today I felt I would relate my experience. Many of you are having a better or worse experience

I went grocery shopping today. The first grocery store I went to has a postal substation where I can drop off packages and mail on Sunday. I was able to get the spring water bottle limit of two. They were out of vegetables and fruit.   I went to a second grocery store and they had vegetables all you wanted no water.  Crazy.

I went to Sainsburys here in the UK this morning it was like walking back in time to the second world war. Loads of empty shelves people walking about with trolleys full they will be bringing back the ration books next all over the flu. We have the flu every year and it kills more than what they are saying about this one. It makes you wonder what they are covering up. Then yesterday on the telly they was on about a world recession. Then they talk about fake news somebody is making a nice killing out of this.

One good thing about living in a hurricane zone, we have plenty of food stocked up for the next one so we don’t have to worry about that. All I need to do is service the generator. As or TP – I’m planting corn in the garden – kill two birds with one stone.

i have been avoiding stores just on general principle because i don’t want to further the hysteria, but found i was actually running low on toilet paper. we hit two wal-marts, and 3 other large chain stores. not a single roll in the place.

  5. Our local Publix was out of Romaine lettuce, milk, eggs, TP, water and low on fresh meat. Due to hurricane preparation I always keep 3 or 4 case of bottled water and 30-50 rolls of TP on hand. Fresh meat & vegetables could become an issue.

Here in Medford Mass… Friday the local “Wholesale Club” (meaning you purchase mass quantities – perfect place for The Coneheads from SNL to shop), met a guy coming out to his car. Said the checkout counter lines were maybe 2 hours long – I left without bothering to try. At the discount prices store, Aldis, no long lines but out of TP, meat, chicken, all fish except 3 packages smoked Salmon, and bread aisle empty except for a few loaves of some ring-type bread. Rest of store still had a few to a good portion of evrything else. Checkout lines weren’t bad. Got thorugh it in 5 min. or less. As for the advice to stay home… Hey, I have lots of plastic toy soldiers and Marx Playsets. I can keep myself occupied for the duration!

Stop and Shop in Connecticut will be open from 6 am to 7:30 am for people 60 and over only. Regular hours are 7:30 am to 8 pm. It’s a kind gesture, but the last thing I want to do is go shopping at 6 am with a bunch of old people!! Loaded up on food yesterday amidst crazed people with glazed eyes. I have about 20 rolls of TP, but should probably grab a few at a time as they have them. Target was rationing them last I heard. Regular facial tissues are very bad for septic tanks for people without city sewers. I’ve chased down Beanie Babies and Furbies when my daughter was little, but never TP!! Could NEVER have made this one up. Yikes!!

Looks like we will be going back to the war when my old mum used to cut up the newspapers in to 5inch squares and poke a hole through them and hang them up on a piece of string.

On a different note I see the London toy soldier show has been cancelled this month. The next show is in June fingers crossed the plastic warrior show will be on in May.
