Five Odds Ends Expeditionary Force

Five Odds Ends Expeditionary Force, we have a little more from Expeditionary Force. We have a preview of their WWII Japanese soldiers. Kent Sprecher sent us an update on the Mars Napoleonic French grenadiers. We note the passing of a very good friend’s mother.

Five Odds Ends Expeditionary Force preview

Five Odds Ends Expeditionary Force
Several people including Rahway and Evan Oelrich have contacted me that they received an email from Expeditionary Force that shows more items. The reason for that is I get a copy of the dealer’s email which is sent a few days before the general emailing. Scott adds something to the general email for the collectors to talk about. This time it is a future release of the WII Japanese. The first photo here shows a Japanese officer with a machine gun crew.

The other preview photo is two Japanese foot soldiers. Some interesting items of the figures are the bandaged head and the helmet with covering going out the back. These would be great additions for your 54mm army. No date has been given when these figures will be released.

Mars Napoleonic French Grenadiers

Mars French Grenadiers
Kent Sprecher let us know he now has the Mars French Grenadiers for sale. He said the following of these figures: The Mars French have arrived.  As with their other sets, the figures were made in two 4 cavity spin molds.  One mold made the four-man command group and the other mold four riflemen.  Each 15 figure set has one each of the command group and 11 riflemen.  Two each of one pose and three each of the other three riflemen poses.  Sets will vary as to which rifleman pose is included only twice.  My picture makes some look darker but they are all the same shade of blue.

Patsy Evans has Passed Away

We received the sad news today that our very good friend Peter Evans’ mother Patsy Evans has died. She was a fun woman to meet. Laurie and I shared several meals with her and Peter. She was a real enjoyment to be around and will be missed. Our condolence to Peter.

EXF japanese looks cool, the weapons looks like Type 99 Short Rifle ,type 1 MG and and Tank LMG? Type!? As too short and not good detail in photo.
Hope finish product better as these are expensive figures for been long run produced .
The MG set is a very nice addition as only early CTS made and not quite good as very odd pose .
Atlantic and Airfix are single pose
The one thing i notice from EXF is soldiers/figures have uniforms too close tideneat x been properly in combat in all poses .
In MARS as i say before all poses are very direct copied /base from Airfix and many are not need be double made in another set .
    my personal views.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachimaki I think the “Bandaged” Japanese soldier might be wearing a Hachimaki.

Have just bought four sets of the Mars French guard and Germans in winter dress also the Don Cossacks look forward to seeing them when they come. The expo for Japanese look great will be getting these when they come out.

  4. I looked at more of the Mars Napoleonic French Grenadiers sets. You will get at least two of each rifleman pose per set and you may get as many as four of one pose.

Yay! Ex Force Japanese. I notice the are squatty and chunky. Much like the Spanish and Italian explorers from chintoys compared to their exceptional conquistador sets. Why are does it seem they are using dwarf physiques?

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

Maybe the artist idea based in false concept that all spanish and Italian people been smaller person as well japanese make then as that.
      To me they are fine.
Least far better that last CTS marines from Korea and most Warhansa in my view of course.
      Just saying..

  9. I hope that the Japanese figures are close 54mm. The machine gun crew looks good. The regular poses look a little stiff. An artillery set would be awesome. I will have to get at least one set. We don’t have to many choices with any new Japanese sets these days…

Generally all EXF figures are very rigid classic poses ,it is a general style they use .They lack vivid movement in most poses but to most collectors is acceptable .In the good part ,the historical general detail, uniforms weapons, else is great .The scale disparate in some sets had create some controversy unfortunately .In pre-WW2 still the lack of early war armies/uniforms period 1936-1942 is a big need that most makers do not cover yet .No even the cheap makers such Mars.
Most maker only focus in 1943 post ….
    my thoughts

Have received the Mars French grenadiers and the German winter troops also the German don Cossacks measured them up with a Conte German they are exactly the same size. I bought four sets of each of these they are brilliant good detail and unusual poses.
