Unknown Knight

Gary Dutko  did a repair of the above figure for a collector. The collector had been told it was Airfix which both Gary and I know is wrong. Gary asked if I knew who made the figure, I do not. The figure is 2 1/4 inches tall. The pose is similar to a pewter figure I once owned. Gary thinks it is a game piece. Does anyone recognize this figure?

  2. Hey Stad!

It’s at least based on the early Airfix “Knight in Armour” pose. There is great blog dedicated to Airfix figures that has a picture of a red one. http://airfixfigs.blogspot.com/2010/06/1949-1960-approximately-early-toy.html

    Best wishes!

      Hi Beau

Yes that looks like the figure, the question is when was one Gary repaired was made. As noted by Hugh Walter, who has a great web site with interesting items, the figure was first done in 1949. It was done in hard plastic and it was later done in Australia. Hugh also noted that there are piracies. the one that Gary has is soft plastic. I was glad that he could repair the figure for the collector.
I am not surprised that Gary and I missed that it could be Airfix, because when you think Airfix knights you think of the later 1/32 Scale figures. In my travels I do not remember every seeing this figure. I am waiting to hear from my European friends on this figure.
