Mike Prendergast News

Mike has busy contacting various Russian sources for news on new figures. The first company has had contact was with Biplant. Mike has found out that the company is releasing five sets of figures Two were put out by Oritet. These sets are fantasy female warriors and a dragon with a female rider. The new figures sets are Gauls, Romans, and Russian Warriors. Each set has six different figures. You can see them here.

The next new Russian set is by Publius. they are Ancient Scythians. The set has eight different figures and the figures are showing up on Ebay. You can read the review of the figures here along with some of the people who will be at the Chicago show this weekend.

The No Name mounted figures we bought from Steve Weston a while ago should be out with other dealers.

  2. Tom Black says:

The Biplant figures look really nice and a bargain price wise. I hope they are closer to 60mm and not 65mm. The Romans look half Ancient Greek and half Roman but nicely sculpted and at that price they can be converted. Also some of the Medieval Russians and Gauls can easily be converted to Vikings or Saxons.

  3. Darren Hatley says:

The Female Warriors are indeed a copy of Oritet figures that came out some years ago and are i believe 54mm in scale so i will buy a set or 2 of these. I really like the Biplant figures and they are very reasonably priced at $10.00 or so, But hear we go again with the scale argument that really annoys me. If they are 60mm or less i will buy a set of all of them, But i refuse to buy figures over 60mm which is the modern trend, So if they are i wont be buying any. Their loss if so.

    Great looking figures !

  5. ERWIN F SELL says:

Biplant had come as a good copier and i could say call then a “Samaritan” company maker. They had copied Publius in several sets, saracen, crusades and some of their mongols and ww2 soviets poses as well as usual they had done in past clone or actually use same molds from Oriet or others .
Regarding the very well done copies of Publius and in fact in better plastic i have not regret as Publius itself copies and or clone from already made metal cast poses set .
So I guess a copier of a copiers have not shame and if offer way lower prices i price x it in behalf of hobby collectors not willing or able to get or paid the gastronomical prices few makers ask now .
    my thoughts

  6. Hi Paul. I have heard that the Biplant sets might be lower now than the $10 as I reported. I will get a few of those sets to compare to other brands in the near future. I wish that they would make these figures a little smaller. It would also save them money too. I had order two of the Ancient Aryans sets that the Company Man produced. They have only made 20 sets to start. But should be making more sets and also releasing more of the Tlingit sets that they made in the beginning of the year. I should have more information next month.

      Mike,
I looked online for those new Biplant sets and did not see them for sale yet. Are they a future release and if so do you know when we can expect them to hit the market? I agree with your assessment (and others’ comments) about the versatility of many of the poses for multiple uses.

        Alex .
They will be soon available, I have update from several sellers from Russia who I just to deal before x wholesale.
As soon they post either me or other will post link here.
They (sellers) buy from Russian stores such Uraltoys and resale at ebay still at good price.that what they been doing x other biplant post here before else brands sets toys in most cases .Uraltoys and other local russian suppliers stores do not offer ship directly here to individual yet unfortunately
That is why only way osby buying off Ebay sellers w good shipping cost still as most economical shipping are from Russian sellers while ironical if we buy from UK or western Europe is far more expensive in shipping.

  8. ERWIN F SELL says:

I’m posting this here as matter of update as i know were there some interested in the Biplant new figures sets plus recast of former ORIETE brand fantasy sets by Biplant
There some russian good sources sellers i had purchase before with great fast cheap shipping off ebay with these sets already .
You can choose from two least .I know are more .
Please note that because measures are taken in different ways some sellers describe the new sets figures as 54 mm or 1/32 .While others as 55 to 72 mm .
Base in my previous experience sets purchase from Biplant brand ,some that are direct copies of Publius in very good quality detail copy and soft plastic not fragile at all .I can say they are not 54 mm but rather 60mm or taller .Least in crusades, saracen and WW2 soviets based in Publius poses copied.
Now these new sets not base in Publius are new to me and not in my hands yet to show samples or compare with others.
as soon got then will do photos .
    Here sellers link .
Urick is one of best and offer combined shipping upon request ,he is sold out very quickly

    please notice
that from above seller the list sale of the simple generic AT gun towed by odd never produced Ford GP T14 .The canon has good use in my opinion as either german/russian or other AT gun .The vehicle base in either ford or Willys GP T14 version could be used as a WC-62 if not too picky of course .

  9. Darren Hatley says:

Thanks Erwin, Although i think its a good idea for sellers to put down the scale of figures they are selling which is important to people like me and others. If the scales are not accurate they shouldn’t bother to put them down in the description. I think if possible New figures like Biplant should be put alongside other well known brand figures so we can see exactly how these figures will compare with others. Ive seen about 4 Russian sellers selling these Biplant figures on ebay and the scale descriptions are all over the place. However on the up side they are lovely looking figures and are very cheap for todays market so i think i will take a punt on them and hope they are the scale i want which is 54mm and no bigger than 60mm.
