Francis Turner American Pickers

Francis Turner American Pickers did you watch the show. Laurie and I saw and enjoyed it. We had been to the museum twice.   On the show Francis showed  the ranch kids dog. He told Mike it had sold as high as $400.00. The only playset item was the original box art. The rest was tin toys.  What are you thoughts?

  1. Nice show and Francis dickered like a pro. I would have like the pickers to be interested in playsets, but Frank is a tin wind up collector. Too bad te museum closed.

No problem the show is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is interesting for those who may or not been to the museum to see it one more time.

Great show. Some of the old Marx sets on display looked amazing!! When I win Powerball I’m IMMEDIATELY buying MIB Gunsmoke and Johnny Ringo sets!! I was able to get the Ranch Kids Dog probably around 2004 – 2005 from a guy down in West Virginia, not far from Turner, He said “Sorry, but I have to charge you $40 for the dog, he’s pretty scare.” Don Perkins will appreciate that Turner gets only $400!! I sold the whole set of Ranch Kids (with the dog) in 4/2006 for $2000 & have been happy with several sets of multicolored recasts ever since. Some I got directly from Mexico & some in the USA.

I watched some of it, saw Francis get a bit choked up and misty eyed at one point. I thought it was pretty good, except as mentioned their interest was tin toys not plastic. Heck, they even the bought the coke machine. All in all I enjoyed the show, wish they would have looked at the plastic more, but it is what it is I guess.

Mike and Frank stay with what they felt comfortable with. that was one of the weakness with Toy Hunter he bought things he had no idea on. I am sure Playset Magazine will have some comments on it.

If they like the Tin stuff so much, they should hit the Kane County show, they could find all the rusty junk they could ever need. The guy next to me at the last show had tin toys and signs and he got ripped off, someone waited until her left on Saturday switched prices on some tin toys and paid a guy that was still there but manning another table. The thief actually paid him $100.00 for about $700.00 in items. The funy part is it looks like they have security cameras set up to monitor things like that, but when he contacted security they told them they are dummy cameras to give the illusion of security. Got to love it.

You could never make that up!!

Yeah , what a place. MY exact words when he told me were, ” you got to be ******* kidding me.”

I was kind of hoping that the thief would come back Sunday, because the guy next to me was one big dude and not a fat guy either.

I doubt the thief would have return.

In the beginning of the sequence Frank mention he had been to Kane County.

I was hoping, nothing like a good beating to get the blood flowing. The guy that got ripped off what tear out the shady guys spleen.

I head him say he had gone to the Chicago Show, but I wasn’t exactly sure what he meant.

Violence can lead to more problems for the person who starts it.
On your second coment I figure Frank had been Kane County as it is the biggest show in his area. One these years I will get out. I almost did it with a group of friends, but a friend was push out of Home Alone in favor of Daniel Stern. Once we lost our place to staywe bag it.

I enjoyed the show, even though, as many of you have stated I was disappointed there wasn’t more than an occasional glimpse at plastic. I did get a kick out of seeing my ol’ buddy Garloo.

Thanks for the shout out about the show, I’ve wanted to go to the museum since I first heard of it. I always figured one day I’d be up in that area and stop by. Now it’s closed. The show gave me a chance to at least get a look at it. And though I’m not a regular watcher of the program we do occasionally tune in when there’s nothing else on and we have nothing much going. It’s good to see them go up against someone who really knows the value of what he has and isn’t so froggy about parting with it. I think all parties were enjoying the game of what we call “dickering” over prices.

I did note that Francis didn’t come too far down off his asking prices. Great show. Thanks again.

Well, I despise thiefs, after having been ripped off at OTSN mainly three or four times, I have no sympathy for them me and George Guerriro get nailed every year by some thief. He caught someone stealing or about to steal this year, for those of you that have seen George, you know he can put the fear of the God into someone. I don’t think he harmed him , but he gave him a good scare and sent him on his way. George’s figures are more expensive than mine, os he takes a pretty bid hit if someone steals three or four of his figures.
