Bill got the Marx Western Ranch Playset box
Here we have two different Marx Fort Apache playset boxes. The more desirable of the two would be the Rin Tin Tin.
The contents of the Marx Western Ranch Playset. I see a large number of the first version Cowboys and horses.
Bill got a several of the tin litho buildings. As you see he got the Zorro Hacienda building and western ranch with the cabin. The Alamo comes its walls. The alamo gate is the Walt Disney version.
Various hard plastic western accessories including the hard to get barber’s chair.
In this photo we have fence sections in various colors.
Buckboard wagon parts and several pieces from Marx Farm

We have the large size football figures. They were part of game that you could play.
Here we have the football kicker from the game. He has his football which is usually missing. Bill said the kicker works.
From the Zorro character figures we have Don Diego and Sergeant Garcia. Many times Don Diego’s cane is missing. Sergeant Garcia’s right hand is damaged. note update as I had my character mixed.

Don Diego de la Vega
When I finally talked Mom and Dad into buying a TV it was delivered on a Saturday afternoon and the 1st program I saw was “Zorro” at 5PM.
I remember watching “Zorro” both originals and later re-runs when I was a kid. My kids’ Zorro was Antonio Banderas (not bad). My son was introduced and introduced my grandson to Zorro via the net and the little guy loves the show. My son came home by himself recently and we showed him “Zorro, the Gay Blade.” I hadn’t seen it in years. I was surprised at how well it held up after all these years. We don’t think the grandson’s quite ready for it yet, though at seven many of the gags will probably go over his head.
Great memories. “One cent, two cents, three cents a peso…”
Zorro with Guy Williams was a great TV series. I used to collect the (Topps ?) Zorro bubble gum cards. Remember them? Had a HARD time getting the one with the flower pot broken over Sgt. Garcia’s head. I remember the red carnations in the picture. Boy, that was almost SIXTY years ago!!
Ooooops – sorry – self correction: it was the Commandante and the flowers were pink: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZORRO-card-Walt-Disney-1950s-issue-58-Forced-Rest-Topps-issue-/132243377287?hash=item1eca51cc87:g:vVcAAOSwvjdZVHYz
These cards selling for pretty good money on eBay still. Mom did it to me again – my whole set out in the trash. “No room for all this junk.”
I definitely feel your pain there, but talked about this before so…
And this week I found…..NOTHING!!!
Well, actually i picked up a copy of the “American Heritage Book of the American Revolution.”
I’ll bet most of us had this as kids. I know that I did.
Sounds like you came to CONNECTICUT FLEA MARKETS where “Nothing” is standard….. I found some great Timpo and Plasty stuff on German internet. It kills me that shipping from Germany to CT is less than a “big dealer” in NYC charges, one state away. C’est la guerre..
Andy It would be no fun if I found huge amounts every week. I still enjoy myself when I go to the market. I shoot the breeze with many of the vendors with whom I have become friendly with over the years.
It helps to keep familiar with these guys.
Besides, I buy plenty of books or items of interest not related to the hobby. I look forward to Sundays for that reason.
In my opinion.
The more years pass,it will be less to found and more to search.
Internet had affect positive and negative the fun of searching.Still they will be recycling as years past and old generation retiring or gone .Yet the more time ,less figures toys from older range will pup and become lost as abandon and damage or else .
Good quality is a hard to get in many as the toys are passing by now for two generation least and many more vendors -sellers.
European collectors -sellers are my age or a bit older in many cases giving more chance to offer better conserved toys.
my thoughts…
I agree with Erwin that good quality is getting harder to find. To me, beat up items are not what I’m looking for, except at very low prices for conversions. The rule of thumb used to be that damaged items were worth nothing and not sellable; now I see more and more damaged figures on eBay daily.
