Mould defects

Sadly Denitz reports that two poses have permanent moulding defect (pictures 16 and 17). Following  a customer’s poll, Engineer Bassevitch decided to keep these two poses in the set and didn’t reduce set from twelve to ten poses.

The Assyrians were in power from 2500 BC until 520 BC when they were conquered by the Persian Empire. The Assyrian Empire was vast at one point  they ruled what is now know as Iraq, Syria and part of Turkey. This was know as the region of  Mesopotamia. They used iron in their weapons which gave them an advantage over their opponents that  were using bronze.

The Engineer Bassevitch Assyrians has 12 figures: Assyrian woman standing, Assyrian man pointing possible leader, Assyrian standing with crooked staff possible a religious leader and Assyrian with club in his left hand ready to strike while holding on to his sword in belt with his right hand. In the fighting poses you have two different Assyrians Bowmen firing the bow. One Assyrian bowman is in heavy armor while the other is not. Then there are sword fighting poses, you have Assyrian running with sword and shield, Assyrian kneeling ready with sword and shield and standing with sword and shield. There are two spear poses. One is Assyrian ready with spear and shield, the other is marching with spear and shield.  Finally you have an Assyrian with a sling, which was widely used by ancient armies as it was easy weapon to make and was very effective.

The Engineer Bassevitch Assyrians figures are as always are well sculpted. The figures will be a great companion to Engineer Bassevitch  Ancient Jews figures.  The Assyrians conquered the ancient  Jews and made them part of the Assyrian Empire. The box is nicely illustrated and has a made showing how far the Assyrians ruled.

I think I’m blind ,were are the defects?

    • Les White says:

I think they are referring to the mould seams and flash, although I wouldn’t call them defects. Pic 5 man with large beard and Pic 7 man holding crooked staff. A clear line of excess plastic can be seen along the top of both arms and around the head.

  2. Greg Liska says:

I can’t see any defects, either. They look really good!

  3. Erwin says:

Yes the mold having a seal issue. Some others EB figures have it.
Such as set or 1939 Soviet infantry. Not the first time.
I think they have to regulate more the pressure injector and add more exit to molds so halves could seal better.

  4. Greg Liska says:

I noticed the flash, but 30 seconds with an X-acto knife will fix that.

  5. erwin says:

Greg I do not doubt your knife skills, much better than mine of course .But if what the figures have(not showed clear in pictures) is a miss shape halve from mold ,it is another story. We will have to see the two sides and front angle to find out.
In few of the early soviet 1939 war sets poses I got two with that issue and it look like one part of ear and face is mounted over other, same in hands and the helmet, very odd and no way to fix it unfortunately. If that would be the case then figures are bad.
If is a flash problem, not a big issue. But will send to you x repair if is ok!
    I was kidding!!

  6. Mark says:

The “Defects” do not look too bad in the photo maybe just need a trimming ? Nice to see someone is concerned about quality ! My compliments to the Sculptor !

  7. Erwin says:

So is mold halve problems like before.
Like I thought. That is not reparable .Still nice figures.

  8. erwin says:

    Ok .
For me that like to paint figures I think paint will help to cover it, some knife and sand may help, least the front part of figure. If too observant ,too bad as you will see it.
I think is a nice set and perfect match with my( rain fall) ancient figures .Hope scale wise too.
The issue in halve molds could be resolve once what I mention before could be fix ..
