BMC Revolutionary War Grenadier Conversions

The BMC Revolutionary War British Grenadier Conversions  were done by our very good friend Greg Liska. As you may remember Greg has done a number of conversions of the Ideal Revolutionary War Figures. The BMC Revolutionary War figures were done for a playset called Battle of Yorktown . The playset contained accessories such as cannons  and redoubts and figures representing the Colonial, French, Hessians and British Grenadiers.

The BMC British Grenadiers consisted nine different poses in the Mitre Caps. The poses are standing firing, loading, bayonet rifle at waist pointing up,  shot, officer with sword, advancing with bayonet rifle, at ready, running with bayonet rifle and bayonet  rifle pointing down.  The detail is not great which is typical with many of BMC figures. The worse is the faces on the figures. The detail is minimally.

Still these figures can be added to the other British out on the market. Some of the other companies that have done Revolutionary War are Marx, Classic toy Soldiers, Barzso Collectibles and Accurate. These companies are more in the 54mm Range. For 60mm you have Armies in Plastic and Ideal. This later group would fit better I feel with the BMC figures.

As to why Greg Liska did these conversions, it best to let him explain.

Still on my Rev War kick, I ended up with a load of BMC Brit Grenadiers. I liked the poses and kept about 50 of them until my son said they were just not cutting it. He said his Americans would no longer fear the Grenadiers if they had recruits like that. So…..I took some advice and got metal heads from All The King’s Men. Ken took care of the order quickly and they are flawless castings. NOW my son thinks they are worthy opponents. The battles can go on.

The pics are not great. I think my camera is dying. Still, it’s easy to see what a difference the new heads make.

I would be really dangerous if I were home every evening. All this is done on the weekends. I probably need to slow down. Thanks for the praise, Mark.

Anybody out there have BMC guys in white or tan? I still need another French arty crew and about 20 infantrymen. Tan needs about 30 infantry and I have NO officers for them! I guess additional Cornwallis or Lafayette figures painted tan would do it. I’d love to get a Washington figure cast in white. I’ve seen one and I even got one in BLACK! A great find! More Washington figures would be nice in any color, really. Anyhow, if you got them and are willing to part with them, let’s talk.
