Odds and Ends 11/20/11

We did a toy soldier show today in Levitttown Pennsylvania. If it had not been for my friend Gerry Watts setting up it would have been a bust.  Gerry brought a wide range of plastic figures at various prices for sale. People were going through his 50 cent figures looking for treasures.  I got from Gerry an example of the Marx 60mm Spanish American War reissue figure in a light green.  I will have a picture up soon.  I am told that these figures were showing up in New Jersey in   discount stores.

The other dealers did not seemed to be having a good day at the show. I did pick up the Paragon mounted Apaches and some other new figures for a friend.  On the way home I took Laurie to Chipolte.  Laurie had never been there, I had tried it earlier in the week and like it.  Laurie like their food too, it was actually nice to get away from the fast food that is usually out there.  Our area is usually slow to get some of these restaurants.  One we are ahead of others in Pennsylvania is White Castle. They opened the first one in Pennyslvania about 5 miles north of me. Right now it is nuts to get into the place. They have a 10 to 20 car line to get into the store. The paper reported that one person saw a party ordered $81.00 of food.

Last night they had a reunion for the junior high I went to. It was for all the classes of the 60’s. It was interesting as I saw many people I had not seen in 40 years.  Some of them they looked the same while others I would not have recognized them at all.  One of the funny things that happen was Laurie saw a cilent who she had booked a trip. The person then introduce me  to her husband, which I found out had been in my Boy Scout Troop! It was nice time.

Next Sunday Laurie and I will be at the York Toy Show in York Pennsylvania. This is a great toy show with two big rooms of toys. We always find great items and see many of our friends at the show. We will have a great time.

If I do not get a chance to write before Thursday have a great Thanksgiving. Laurie and I will watch the Macy Thanksgiving Parade in the morning. We will then go out for dinner making it easier on Laurie.  After dinner we will go out for a movie. Day after Thanksgiving we will avoid the sales as there is nothing we need. Laurie used to work retail on that day and she still has nightmares from it.  So we will go into the Lancaster area for food purchases.  We have been going into the Lancaster area for us to get chicken and meats that do not have the chemicals you get with the stuff you buy in the supermarkets. We make a nice day out of it.
