TSSD Romans and Barbarians Latest News

TSSD has put up more photos up including their Roman Fort addition.  The fort is a long over due piece for those that do anicent battles. The fort is expandable so you can make it as big as you want. They are also showing the elephant with a foam howdah. The piece is a good combination of an existing piece with a new piece. Great thinking outside the box, there will be people who will complain that the Romans did not use elephants in their northern campaigns. This is true, we are not going to chide TSSD for including it as the piece as it is a great what if idea if  Romans had used elephants for the northern campaign. For purists you can always sell the elephant off to other people.

Yes, the TSSD Roman/Barbarian playset is looking good, especially the Roman marching fort. Years ago, Airfix made a 1/72nd scale Roman marching fort, which I thought was pretty neat, but it’s high time for one in 1/32, now that formtec-type forts and other battleground accessories have become so artistic. Believe me, I’m counting the days to OTSN, where I intend to acquire the entire TSSD Roman playset, along with the add-on marching fort. Of course, Nick is well aware there were no elephants in the Germania/Gaulic campaigns, but he already is thinking about making the other enemies of Rome besides the German barbarians — that would include Gauls, Celts, and Carthagenians, at which point the war elephant will fit in perfectly well.
