Odds and Ends

I have heard from my friend in Europe who is thinking on carrying the plastic figure Russia Revolution sets from Russia. He is planning on carrying a limited quantity of the four sets plus the add ons due the high cost. The sets could end up between 30 and 40 Euros.  You are looking at a cost of between 38 and 50 dollars a set. This is because of the price being charged and decline of Euro in value. So far we have not heard of any U.S. parties who is thinking of bringing in these figures.

We  have heard only minor reports on the Texas shows. Several dealers did very well. We hope to hear more reports at West Virginia.

Wonderfest  in Louisville KY was held the same weekend as the Texas show and the reports have been negative. Wonderfest is a model and toy show with guests such as Julie Adams of Creature of the Black Lagoon fame. The reports were the crowds were down and dealers were complaining lack of sales.

Barzso Collectibles has redesigned their web site.  People are very please with the layout. They have also shown two of the three building for the set.

Next weekend will be the Marx Meet in Wheeling WV.  This is a great time to meet other collectors in a relax atmosphere. There will be lots to buy not just  Marx. Laurie and I will be back again to have fun and we will also go to two of our favorite eating places Later Alligator and Cheddars. (I just found out that there is one in York PA and we will check that next November.) It will be interesting what will  turn up.

Next week Quinn will be 2 years old. For his birthday we got him doggy steps so he can get up on the bed.  He has quickly learned how to use them so we do not have to pick him up to put on the bed.

Yes, Stad, take good notes at the Marx Show in W. V., so you can give us a good, detailed report. I want to know everything that happened and everything attendees were saying — even the unverified rumors! Ha Ha Ha. But here’s a FACT for you, since I saw it with my own eyes: Rick Berry is back home and back at the store, Michigan Toy Soldier Company. I ran into him last Saturday morning at the store and shook his hand. He seemed in good spirits and appeared to be hard at work on the computer and organizing things and directing things.

You know we will be taking good notes and doing pictures. We will be trying to do video this year as well. Laurie and I both have video cameras. We hope to get some interesting footage for you. We very likely we will not get over to the Marx meeting for the Marx Museum at Moundsville, so we will get reports on the meeting on Saturday before we leave for home.
Rick Berry has a long road ahead. It will be interesting how people react to him.

Find a map to the dump so I can find that vein of Johnny Ringo’s.

I wonder if they were found if they would all come out gray, wouldn’t that be a bummer?

The honest truth I really do not care about the Marx dumps. The figures get stuck with a red clay which is a pain to get off. The cream figures have a tendacy to turn gray. The dumps are deep in the woods, which you need a four wheel vehicle to get to and my back will not take that punishment anymore. Finally you need to get permission to get back in these places as people are very unhappy with strangers. I figure if they found a vein of Johnny Ringo even in gray they would be expensive.

Yeah , but I’d like to see it once, it would be like a shrine sort of like the Alamo something you have to see once even though it may be a bit disappointing on some level.

The dump does cause some interesting mutants, tan turns gray, some yellow turns black and they are hard to get clean, you can always tell a Rick Keller figure by the clay residue.

You will have to go to West Virginia unless you buy the DVD Rusty did. The people who are associated with the dump are very supicious of strangers as they have been taken. If you got lucky and visit the site it is a bunch of holes and lots of what you found would be useless.

I heard a rumor that there is another site that is virtually untouched in the same gerneral vicinity. However, the guy won’t let anyone dig. That’s the one that needs to be visited. I’ve talked to Rick Keller , he’s been to the one site that is widely dug.

The person may not want his place dug up because of the problems the other people have had.
