Marx Superman Reissue Part Two

Here is a photo the Marx Superman reissues with a original figure.  The original figure is in the center  and seems to be slightly shorter and heavier than the two reissues.  I am not sure if it is  the type of plastic that was used or Marx did a second mold. I will have do some more review and get feedback from other collectors.  This is a great way for a collector to get this figure as the original figures are to get as they only came out of the Marx warehouse.

Is the fig in middle supposed to be Mr.Marx?

  2. Ed Borris says:

I heard Hobby Bunker has the Superman mold, but this is unconfirmed..

As I have reported here and other places Hobby Bunker is where you can buy the figure. Other people should have it soon. I beleive the figure is being actually being run by Marx Playset. All I know on Marx Playset is that Bill Murphy is innvolved with it. The Superman mold was owned by someone for many years. whether that person has sold or leased it I do not know.

Over the years I have had multiple original Superman figures standing side by side and there could be a 1/4 inch difference in height. This was because the shorter figures seemed to be slouching with the head also bent slightly forward. I assumed it was slumping while hot out of the mold – at least that is what it appeared to be.

If you refer to Marx Playset as being Jay H. then no his company is not running it and does not have the mold.

  5. PJR says:

Then who is Marx Playset ? Oh and by the way Jay is American Plastic. And he never sold that mold according to his representative. It was last LEASED to Glencoe and has yet to be returned.

I know who Jay Horowitz is and I know his company American Plastic. I have had contact with American Plastic long before you did. American Plastic is the company who bought the Marx molds in the 1980’s. American Plastic also bought MPC olds among other toy companies.

  6. PJR says:

OH excuse me Bill Murphy uses Marx Playsets on all his Marx reissue labels. ……

As I mention before many of the reissues that come from Hobby Bunker are packaged as Marx Playset. I know that Bill Murphy is innvolved in this aspect. I do not know if Marx Playset is a register company or part of Hobby Bunker. Frankly I do not care. I only care that collectors know about this new reissue as I have heard of an incident or two where reissues have been been passed as originals

To Ed Borris: Ed, pardon for getting to you this way on an off-topic to this thread, but I have a couple of questions for you regarding OTSN this year. If you wouldn’t mind giving me a short phone call, I would appreciate it: (586)465-6000. Thanks.

  8. Don Perkins says:

Ed, I accidently left you the wrong number — my old office number. The correct phone number to my home is (586)791-8515.

  9. Ed Borris says:

I’ll try tonight when I get home from work.
