Allentown Garage Sale

Allentown Garage Sale

The Allentown Garage Sale is held twice a year at our local fairgrounds.  I have been going since it started and it has been a hit or miss situation in finding items.  This year I had an additional problem snow.  The weather people were all over the board on the amount of snow we were ogoing to get Saturday. Some were saying a coating to three inches. Then the Weather Channel was saying  on Friday 5 to 8 inches.  I figured to go as the show as it one mile from the house.  I decided to go unless there was several inches of snow on the ground.

I got up in morning and saw that there was no snow on the ground so I got ready to go. The show opens at 8:00 so I got there about 20 minutes opened.  The show opened the lobby for the crowd to keep warm until the doors opened.  Once the doors opened I headed to the back of the building to work forward.  I usually do this procedure with this show as the crowd  usually goes down first row.

I started checking out the tables.  My main interest was any plastic figures. I spotted some Marx six inch knights soft plastic. They had been repainted so  passed on them.  I continued down the aisles not spotting anything until I got to front row.  There I got four plug in base Beton figures. the lot was three Indians and a cadet.  I started back and found an Elastolin early costume Russian.  This is a composition figure made after world War II and I have done well in selling.  Back in the last row. I found a clam shell with army figures. While there was Lido and Timmee army figures, what interest me was two Ideal machine guns and three Ideal army  figures. I purchased it and headed out.

As I was going out I saw Ideal stagecoach.  I had seen the stagecoach earlier and passed figuring the dealer had a high price.  I decided to ask the price. The dealer told me it had everything except top to the chest and the hat for the driver ( I thought that last comment was odd until I check and realized he was thinking of the Roy Rogers figure.) Then he  told me the price, I was surprised it was at the price was thinking of paying for it, which I did.

I headed out beating the snow.
