Unknown Civil War figures

P1140864

Our very good friend Erwin found these Civil War in one of his storage boxes and is curious who made them.

P1140865

Over 15 years ago I come across a group of bags  what appear to be Marx cloned dowm scale of centennial poses figures.

P1140866

For some reason I storage them without the original packing.
P1140866
The interesting part about these unknown maker’s copies (I believe from China) is that contrary normal policy of copying one company’s figures this companies copied several companies.
P1140868
Most obvious are copies of  the Marx 54 mm Centennial and 60 MM Union series.
P1140869
In addition there that other companies copied are Britain poses and Marksman mold poses among others copied too with 2 or 3 (last bottom right ) of unknown source to me by recalling.
P1140870
The bags had more poses and most are ok or decency  for been copies. Running in size from 48/54 mm scale.(only 54 so far is the Britain officer cloned)I have provide the pictures with the two colors variation and some original poses/brands to compare.
P1140871
Do you recall who did then and what other poses were include??
So far they match my DGN and BMC-3 sets poses figures in scale
Editor’s note: I believe the center figure is  a copy of the Marx Mexican Presidio Hat firing the pistol.

We got a bag of those unopened, looks like stuff they sell at Gettysburg gift shops. Our bag has the Marx Mexican and Marksman clones plus the Marx downsized copies. Our is still sealed with a name on the header I’ll check it out and see who makes it.

admin you right it is from presidio but different head and hat, the band uniform was eliminated. The shoulder were eliminated
    Good recollecting and observation.!!.Thanks
The drummer is from a Marx cadet I think with civil war head
Now the officer is left to find where is from

  3. Bill Nevins says:

I think that those are “BILLY” figures.

    • Erwin says:

      Bill.
I think Billy V start selling as IMex distributor in 2012.I got these way before.
Billy sale the more nicer original done DNG brand.

  4. Jack Gibbons says:

I picked up a couple of these bagged sets in the Gettysburg Walmart for my boys. That was four years ago. Definitely Chinese clones/copies.

    • erwin says:

Yes,definitely crude cloned in most but interesting they copy from all brands around in one set. I’m looking x other poses too. I do collect cloned too ,specially if have some variation, beside they fit my different size scales collection as match.

  5. ed borris says:

I’ll get all the details today, it’s at our booth at the flea market. Somehow I don’t think it will sell before I get there, maybe not ever.

  6. ed borris says:

Okay, they are from Americana Souvenirs and Gifts. The header card showed 40 pieces and it contains the same basic figures shown above, two mounted figures, two flags and two cannons. We also have a smaller bag that has 10 Rebs in it, same figures as the larger bag.

    • Erwin says:

Ed thank you.Are they x sale?

    • erwin says:

Ed I check the store that pack and apparently only BMC products are been carry now.So those most be old stock they sold years ago, same I got about 15 years ago.
Thank you for tip and information if willing to sale let me know.
I could use then to match my MPC,DGN and others small scale x background scenes. Most are crude done, few are nicer with some adaptation.

    • Pjr says:

Agreed. They also sold them loose. They get them from China the man in the store told me

  7. Wayne W says:

I bought a couple bags of those some years back in a Kennesaw, GA gift shop when we stopped to visit “The General.” I think they’re still at the bottom of one of my containers I haven’t been able to get to in a couple years.

I don’t remember anything about a manufacturer, but I do remember they were made in China. Nice figures, just too small for my taste.

  8. ed borris says:

Sure everything we have is for sale, we’re not asking much either. I didn’t check what price we had on them, but I think it was $5.00 for the larger 40 piece set and $2.00 for the smaller set of Rebs. Maybe less.

  9. Greg Liska says:

What a coincidence! I had gotten a bunch of these to ‘practice’ conversions about maybe 10 years ago. I just picked up a bunch to add to my 50mm ACW set. Actually, I’m interested in some. If I could get one of each color mounted and the Britains Ltd. Officer in grey and the Mx Reb running with broad brimmed hat, I would love 3 of those, any color, but grey preferred. The cloned Mx WoW standing firing Federal (blue preferred) I could do all day, too. I’m not against buying bags to get what I need. I don’t want to take it away from any one who claimed first shot, though.

  10. Erwin says:

Ed I will contact u direct soon to get both.thanks.
Greg, once I got I split what I got w you.
    Keep in touch.

  11. ed borris says:

Okay, we got $5.00 & $2.00, plus shipping. Figure about $9.00 total? I got my partner bringing them home from the flea market.

  12. Erwin says:

    Ok.ed I email u already.thanks

  13. ed borris says:

    Okay, I’ll check it out.

  14. Billy V is a name IMEX uses to sell assorted figures including their own 1/72 figures.

  15. erwin says:

I want to thanks Ed for making the sets new available to me and Greg to complete our poses set.
Very appreciate in effort and help.
