Nice article on Louis Marx but I much prefer the one in Wheeling and its owner

I’m glad for both! the fact that there’s enough interest to keep 2 going is excellent for the hobby in general.

Both museums are worth your time if you are in the Wheeling West Virginia area. The Kruger museum has a wide range of toys on display, while Marx Toy museum has a number of playsets on display including the prototype Monster Castle. Both are an enjoyable experience.

There is coincidence in the air for me lately. I’ve been re-watching old 1930’s monster movies, which almost always have a castle in it and I’d taken out my MPC monsters and posed them on one of my castles. I would love to see what they had come up with. Are there pics out there? I had the MPC haunted ship as a ‘little monster’.

Greg, PFPC had a story years ago on the Marx prototype monster castle and they apparently used MPC monsters for photos If you google image marx monster castle a photo should come up with a couple orange MPC monsters in front,

The Marx monster castle prototype used MPC monsters and Aurora customizing scenes. The Tin Lito Castle to a tin litho castle. To represent a ghost, they took a Cardinal Spelling figure.
When Marx did a prototype of the Zorro set, they used the shako hat Mexicans. The Marx Revolutionary War set the walls had tin ends instead of the plastic.
