Conversions and Other Interesting Figures, I am sure, you are like me, you love to go through a pile of figures to find surprises. I am now going through some figures I recently bought. I am finding two interesting groups. The first is figures that have been converted. The second is figures that were in production, which I had missed.
Conversions and Other Interesting Figures: Figure Time
I have always liked conversions. They give you more poses for your scenes. Here we have at least two conversions. The figure on the left is an Accurate Officer with a head changed. Also, the head is pointing to the side. The middle figure is the Marx stretcher bearer with a new head and a hat. I am unsure about the third figure.
We have two more conversion figures on each end of the photo. The Confederate officer is another head change. The Union figure right, I feel, is a major conversion. I think he was originally the Marx cowboy with a pistol and a money bag. Whoever did the conversion removed the pistol and the money bag and gave it a new head. I have no idea who made the middle figure.
These two figures are Barzso Collectibles. I had not been interested in Ron’s figures, as they were resin. I think it was partial because I did not have room to display them. Also, with the breakage factor.
Butternut and Blue made the figure on the left. The soldier with the binoculars, I like the pose. Dave Carpenter says it is BMC. Another conversion figure on the right, as Kent Sprecher pointed out on Facebook, the figure originally started as an Accurate figure
Once again, possible Imex figures?
These three figures were made by Replicants. They are dismounted Confederates that were discontinued in 2017.
Finally, the party also had or did conversions of the Barzso Collectible knights. Here is one I am keeping because of the pose.
The first set of figures at the top. The figure on the end right is a Barzso Alamo Travis made for CTS they made a set of four figures.
The guy in the middle on the second row is an IMEX officer from their Confederate Infantry set. He’s been head swapped with an original head from a “Jeb Stuart” figure like the one in the top row, left. It looks like THAT figure is wearing a head from the IMEX confederate officer pose with a pistol. The two guys in the fifth row are IMEX second series Confederates. The guy on the right has been converted, the original pose he’s standing still with legs slightly apart shouting. I like the conversion better.
Are these guys (fifth row) is a stiff, brittle plastic. I bought two sets when they first came out, was sorely disappointed when I opened them and several were broken in the bag they were so brittle. Great poses though.

Yes, the fifth row figures are hard plastic. It is why I passed on them.
Sometimes conversions with styrene figures (hard plastic ) can have good results.
Glued with epoxy the bond is strong and unlikely to come apart.
Styrene also takes paint well. Some advantages over soft polyethylene.
