February 2022 Peter Evans Surprises Elastowit Western Set
Lord of the Rings
Update the figure set is called Children of Hurin. The company that is offering the figure is Lavy.com at a price of $76.00 plus postage.
Interesting set of Tolkien literature.Too bad not in spending plans .The Children of Hurin are belong to a much far early era of Tolkien fantasy world and not related at all with Lord of The ring from 3er age .The history is set in the First Age .One of last books wrote and finished by Tolkien son .
I like the elastowit set .
Rest looks great !!
I like add that while all these russian maker are getting super well detail figures and super pricey $$$ for those who want and may afford them. And i appreciate as least is keeping the hobby very active and given some collectors the excellent so well done figures to add .But one thing I do not appreciate is the increase of bases- terrain depiction making figures regardless of the actual human figure scale least from 7 to 10 mm taller than what they are and appearing far too tall over many others even if initially intended to be one scale .I think they should take in consideration that .So far I noticed an expansions on adding these nice well detailed but extravagant over saturated bases as if were making mini- statues to be place in the middle of a city as monument ,not to play around or and also limiting the many alternated scenes on any battlefield .
I have few sets of these $$$ various makers and i find hard time adjusting them to other scenes along other figures sets ,forcing me to make specific scenes only with these brands .
my thoughts .
It’s a tough call, but I am inclined to agree with Erwin that a simple, flat base would offer more versatility/options and a broader appeal to hobbyists. And keep the figures truer to scale.
The call is tough because one could see these bases as the modern equivalent of the bases on the “pedestal” figures by Marx. Those figures do make excellent “town square” statues, however.
But they also make great symbolic figures for war game scenarios.
One other observation… the female figure in the Children of Hurin…she looks a little too much like former Dallas Cowboys QB, Troy Aikman… (please, no hate mail…)
The “cavemen ” are huge ,they are on sale all over aliexpress for couple years as far i seen .Scale is like 80 mm .

Some real eye candy; great for displays. I guess that’s the way of the future.

As well as symbolic figures for wargames, those Children of Hurin figures look almost like Chess pieces.
Agree …
Good point.
What’s Russian for “Just a plain flat base please”??
