Odds Ends Marx Tan 51 Tank Turret, we have a number of items to share. First, I share the oddest purchase of the year for Marx. It is a tan 51 tank turret only. Next, we have a future release from BMC Toys Marx furniture. Patrick Cotter shares a photo of the actual Airfix dragoon. Patrick also shares a photo of all six poses of the Crescent Russians.

Interesting fins!! .Too bad the M51 was not done with more detail and long barrel, yet was only more scale match versus figures marx vehicle made with a playset .It may be the so high demand and also as very few made versus others small brothers and never recast or reissued.
The crescent Russian are some interesting poses but horrible made as weapons are mix of ww2/modern and don’t know bad done weapons plus mix old and new uniforms,Still they have their charms as collectible not doubt .I have one each and that is enough …
More reissues as usual from Marx ,not my interest unfortunately .It seems to me recast have over populated the hobby a lot and most collector if want complete an original playset will prefer original pieces but those who can not may use these reissues .Also any one making western/war else dioramas inside building can use then i bet .
my thoughts

With regards Erwin’s comment about the Crescent Russians .I do not think we should be bothered about them having the right weapons or uniform ‘,this is the same foe any ‘toy soldier’.I was about 7 years old when I first purchased these and all that mattered for me was their play value ,which was great.
Have to agree with you Barrie. Plastic toy soldiers were designed for kids, not “connoisseurs” who require “historical accuracy”. Maybe METAL toy soldiers would better suit that sort of “palate”?? When I buy plastic toy soldiers, my main concern is if they are fun to fit in with my other toys. Just MY opinion. I have to confess I actually have some pirates among my CSA and gold miner ranks!!
Interesting how the single turret could sale x high price.
I notice the one admin post x sale at ebay has a bid on it already…
I see that as off now one turret and one chassis sale x high price now in Ebay from other sellers..
It my surprise many out there wondering the fact!!😜
Regarding Barries answers to my comments.About Crescent figures as being x children I bet they all were back then of course I do think plastic toy figures were made x adult in 50s till 70s .Many as most us are old folks unless play with then as child and out of nostalgic want have then, won’t go for a non accurate figure in some odd poses when they can buy any other today so well done in many makers.Yet back then in many makers it was far more accuracy in others while some like these were made less accurate or else.
Yet as curiosity collectible they have their charms as I mentioned.
Charben ,Cherilea and many others included Cresent made the sets often mixing weapons and uniforms, probably trying to blend then as toys for the kids appeal to be used as WW2 and after or maybe even for the 007 series films as cold war era period in the high.Yet some poses I bet were disappointed for many kids also.At the end were cheap lines made x kids to play till they grow up.
Again is my like and personal view the way I see them.

Jeff did old Marx Western Furniture from Hotel and Jail sides in brown and green. The pieces are very sharp and cleanly molded in a nice material and his prices are very reasonable. Will probably pick up the new set as soon as it’s available.
I welcome the furniture sets – no good battle scene with houses or buildings is really complete without it. It was one of my frustrations as a “Junior General” when I was a kid though the Marx accessories with the ACW, Ft Apache, etc; were welcome, having empty buildings in my battlegrounds was frustrating. ‘Almost enough to make me want to get doll house furniture – ALMOST (child of 50s and 60s here…). But these sets are welcome. I have most of the pieces already, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be buying more – after all, I have an entire Alamo to outfit as well as “Cherbusco/San Antonio,” Lexington and Yorktown, and a western town from TSSD to outfit. Thanks Jeff!
I like those Crescent Russians, much nicer looking than the Cherilea ! Nice color paint jobs too
Looks like some of the furniture would work for WW2 Normandy, Germandy, Italy, ect. battle scenes.
I only ever had 2 poses of the Crescent Commies. They are a lot smaller than Cherilea and Charbens. The size difference was too much for me. I remember them being about the same size as the Airfix Russians, so really just over what is accepted as 54mm. Can anybody send a size comparison pic?
I get a lot of use out of those 51 tanks. They get used as KV-1’s, IS-2’s, M-26’s, M-46’s. Coming from the era of ‘not so accurate’ I utilize their ambiguity in games/battles.
I get why the gun is so understated; designed to be part of a playset that had everything stuffed tightly together, or in a bin where protrusions could get snapped off all too easily.
The Marx rosetan 51 tank turret sold for $90. Stad that must have made you smile.
