DGN Cavalry

DGN cavalry
Our very good friend Greg Liska sent some pictures of the DGN cavalry. here we have a cavalry soldier with a rifleReb witharound his waist.
Reb cavalry with rifle
The second pose is a soldier with rifle on the left side pointing up.
Cavalry with guidon
The third pose is Kepi soldier with the guidon.
fourth pose is
The figures will go well with the BMC mounted.

Here is what Gary said on the figures. I’m wondering what they are copies of. somebody somewhere has to know. The horses are useless and they don’t even fit on them. I put them on the skinny recast Marx cavalry horses. It’s a way better fit. They are a little light on detail, but they fit right in with my BMC ACW set. I like the officer w/ binos and the color bearer with a kepi. I’ve painted a set grey for the Confederates and even swapped the heads so that the officer has the Kepi and color bearer has the slouch hat. The Confederate mounted riflemen were an instant hit with me. I have them with 2 of the oddball ACW mounted riflemen and some BMC Meade character figures stripped of rank, with carbines slung across their backs. With officers, color bearer, and an MPC bugler, it’s a troop of about 20.

That 4th pic is a converted Gen. Meade pose from BMC. The other DGN mounted pose is an officer with binos. I sent a pic of him off his horse. It’s an interesting pose. There is no cavalryman with sword in the DGN set.

Greg, a little off topic, but you are a creative figure customizer so I am coming to you for advice. I am looking to do an Operation Market Garden set up with my numerous 21st Century British Firefly tanks. As these tanks came with no crew figures I am looking to locate or make British tank commanders. Any ideas on where I could get figures with British berets to sit or stand on the turrets? Or find heads that can placed on other figures? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would look into the Airfix Multipose British Infantry set. You can usually find them on Ebay.

Well firstly, thank you. Off the top of my head, recast Airfix Brit Paras. The radio operator even has a head set on. Also the radio operator from the Airfix Brit Infantry set, too. A little careful carving, you can alter the winged cap badge on the Paras. There are cheapo China copies out there, too. A few bare headed guys would work, too. So many places you can get some of those. I can’t think of too much more that is readily available.

The foot poses of these two DGN ACW sets Union 15 poses ,Confederate 13 poses have all foot poses base in ESCI HO sets
    http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=404
and IMEX sets that in turn extract many poses from ACCURATE early sets .

The mounted poses appear to be original designed by using alike foot poses and made new poses of them as far i can see looking at most HO sets and 1/32.

When DGN produce the new ww2/post 10 armies sets in 2013/2014 they copy- base some poses in matchbox,Italeri and AIRFIX but also complete redesign all new poses in most sets creating all new poses along the copies .
