Waterloo 1815 Future Set 1/32 Scale Custer Sets

Waterloo 1815 Future Set 1/32 Scale Custer Sets, both Rahway and CS Ako alerted me to two new sets coming out in 2020. The two sets are a new production of the cavalry figures related to Custer. These figures can be used in other scenarios.

The sculptor is Domenico Greco. He has sculpted figures for Atlantic, GET OUT, Italeri and Waterloo 1815
Here is one of the poses cavalry laying firing rifle.

Cavalry clubbing a carbine, the figure does not have a hat.
figure with guidon
The final pose is bugler with a guidon. There no date when these figures will be available? Right now, the suggested price between 20 to 22 Euros($21.98 to $23.98) these prices are subject to change.

My favorite figures are two-piece diorama. What is your favorite figure of the group? Also, how do these figures compare to the Plastic Platoon cavalry figures?

  1. Rich Fisher says:

Are the weapons correct ?? usually these companies are arming the 7th Cavalry with cap 7 ball revolvers 7 either Sharps or spencer carbines. The correct weapons should be a 45 calber (cartridge) colt Single Action army & a 45 caliber*cartridge) Springfield carbine as both these weapons we issued to all 12 troops of the 7th cavalry in 1874.

  2. ERWIN SELL says:

Some poses looks alike but not same of the HO set made by Waterloo 1815 years ago(Custer last stand set) .So far Waterloo 1815 had made only 7 1/32 sets and far more in HO .
A test shot set of second WW1 Italian army set never was release but announced as well couple years ago by another site .some photos of test shot were spread out in the net but never sold.

I hope they do not let down as HAT did with their “crowdfuding” project never done since 2013 when they stop making 1/32 sets
Andrea Pierini is the owner of Waterloo 1815; a collector and blogger enthusiastic of collectible model figures more likely .Early he got hand in Atlantic political 4 sets in HO and release then ,still sale two of then .The “Brown shirt and black shirt political set “) former Atlantic sets
The poses are far more realistic for typical last stand in my like than PP set made and coming from basic 1/32 Waterloo 1815 prices will be a top hot sale of course and far more affordable .22 EU =25.00 USD aprox x 14 figures in 7 poses per set is not bad at all.
We will have to seat and wait if they are made..

    my thoughts

  3. I like them except prone figures DON’T need a base!!And as per my pet peeve lets flatten out the standing figures bases a bit eh.

  4. Alan James Black says:

Well I’ve commented before on US. Cavalry miniatures and how much information about uniforms and armament is easily available on the internet..
    So!!
My first thoughts the sculptor has viewed to many European westerns!!.for reference with Hollywood thrown in for luck.

While I’d definitely buy sets for my collection they are more John Ford / John Wayne style, complete with trouser braces and trouser stripes..

As to the best sculpting that I think lies with Plastic Platoon..
Price wise though these new figures win hands down..pensions only stretch so far!!
But, like Paul, I like the two figure vignette.
    That’s got charm.
But what have they done to George Custer.,??..must have been very windy that day to spike his hair that way,.
    Again just my opinion.
    Stay safe.

I’m looking forward to getting both sets. Owner stated – 7 poses in each set, times 2. Since CTS 7Th Cavalry, mounted went bust, I’ve been hoping for a new set of 1/32 Cavalry. Here they are. I like about half of the Plastic Platoon Cavalry. Maybe there will be a second set with more popular poses. Also looked into Bullet-Proof Mimiatures, 3D printed ACW Custer and 6 troopers. Requested price and availability. No response yet.

This update was posted by Andrea Pierini in the Waterloo 1815 blog..

(By now, these are wax sculptures, about 15-16 cm. After that, the sculptor will make the masters (negative shells in hard resin).
The last process will be the steel moulds, expected by october, in order to market the sets by the end of this year.)

Hey Paul and fellow collectors. After reading about Waterloo 1815 new 1/32 scale 7Th Cavalry sets, I contacted Waterloo and asked when will the sets be released. They are planning to release them end of year. After the CTS 7Th Cavalry set went bust, these are going to fit in and I imagine, become very popular. I’m looking forward to getting 2 of each set, even though there are 7 figures X’s 2. To add to Paragon Cavalry, and convert to ACW dismounted Cavalry. They mentioned they Might also do the Sioux set in 1/32. Probably depends on sales. Now if only Perry would make his figures 1/32. Also, new company – Bullet-Proof Mimiatures makes 3D printed figures. Reading about Custer and 6 troopers, mounted, can be upgraded to 1/32. Sent them request for info, pricing and expected delivery date. No response yet. And there is Speira! Awaiting my 3rd shipment. No Cavalry or horses yet. Possibly in the planning stage. Wonderful people, very helpful. Open to figure suggestions. Like the Beatles song, “All You Need Is Cash”

  8. Mark T. says:

These look like a really nice and even more important, reasonably priced alternative to the Plastic Platoon set. I actually like the poses better than Plastic Platoon’s Little Bighorn figures.

My only complaints are the same as several other guys:

Prone figures do not need bases! Please remove them from the final sculpt!

The pistols and carbines look to be 1860s Colt Percussion Army revolvers and Sharps Carbines. They need Peacemakers and Springfields. I suppose the weapons make the figures usable in Civil War battles, but for 1876 they are obsolete.

I have been waiting for Waterloo 1815 Sioux to come out in 1/32 ever since the 1/72 set was released. I REALLY hope they do it. In the old days, companies would release sets for 2 opposing forces at the same time. I think that would help sales. A lot of people might not bother to buy the Cavalry if they can’t find any suitable Indians to fight them with, but if they saw cavalry and Indians available at the same time, they would buy them both. Their Indians are beautiful and would be among the best Indians ever done in 1/32. Lots of War Bonnets which were missing from TSSD and Paragon sets.

I hope the Indians are in rust or dark tan and the cavalry are done in a nice medium blue. Almost all the Paragon and TSSD cavalry you can find right now is only in that baby-shower powder blue.

  9. Mark T. says:

About the comparison with PP Little Big Horn set: I prefer these, even if the uniforms are a bit more “Hollywood”. The PP figures, while expertly sculpted and detailed, look more like poses from a modern, edgy graphic novel illustration of the battle. Too much attention to quirky details make them look a little gimmicky. And even though they tried very hard for historical accuracy, some of the items were not quite right. These soldiers would match much better with existing Cavalry sets, and most importantly, are much, much more affordable.

  10. ERWIN SELL says:

While i like the 7th cavalry representation i think most maker had focus in foot poses only. Airfix ,BMC ,Marx as just few example with very few mounted poses per set .
Because LBH was neither only or first and lats battle of the 7th cavalry i think more poses not related to this battle should be done and more likely more mounted poses in action can and need to be done .At the end they fought or spend more/most time mounted during campaign than on foot .
European non UK(Britain deetail set as exception) makers brands had covered mounted poses better .Britain,Reamsa, PH,Atlantic,Dulcop and JH set have plenty mounted poses (6 to 8 each versus alike foot poses same amount or close on foot )but other Makers had not because the they focus in (last standard typical representation only) PP made all foot poses.Well i imagine if they made then with horse ,the price figures will be 2 and half more and not buyers unless rich !!
I think this set by Waterloo will be very popular if release and mounted poses set can be done right after if profit margin recovered soon .
    just a thought and idea…

  11. ERWIN SELL says:

Owner of Waterloo 1815 is a modeler(pro painted standard of models figures) European standard painted figures are usually made in non traditional color match for uniform in figures as here in US (aka- blue x union ,grey x confederated ,or rust brown x Indians and blue x cavalry
Colors as rust and blue are not typical used by this makers.
More likely grey and tan or cream will be used as he already mentioned in blog by owner .
I agree with you Mark T ;in poses and figures more likely as typical toy soldiers AKA US type and i prefer these rather than mini statues (‘historical” PP made .Yet PP depicted wrong hat in some poses ,so no much accurate either .
After close look i think carbine in figures are the U.S. Springfield Model 1873, trapdoor carbine and not the Spencer .

  12. Rich Fisher says:

I agree the Plastic Platoon poses are GREAT but again cap & ball revolvers. Only plastic US Cavalry that are correctly armed are Paragon (first series) & Marx 60mm troopers except the barrels on the revolvers should have been longer. As to uniforms ; a lot of civilian shirts & hats were worn along with different issue blouses and Civil War leftovers. Many troopers wore straw hats purchased from a sutler at the supply base because they were cooler. How about having some with cartridge belts instead of the cartridge boxes. King & Country actually had a trooper trying to remove a spent shell from the SOLID block of a Spencer carbine. As to their Errol Flynn “Custer” figure they armed him with cap & ball revolvers. In the many photos from ‘ They Died with Their Boots On’ Flynn(Custer) can be seen armed with Remington or Colt revolvers plus there is No facial resemblance to Flynn or Custer. So much for their historically accurate figures. Also suspenders were not a standard issue item until the uniform change of 1885 which also changed the color of the US cavalry standard from Blue to Yellow along with hats changing from black to tan/gray. Interesting thing is tears ago Waterloo had issued 1/72nd scale mounted US Cavalry & Sioux Indians and I contacted them about the possibility of the figures being released in 1/32nd scale, Their reply was NO MARKET for figures in that scale. My how times change.

    • ERWIN SELL says:

He say same thing a couple years ago in his own blog. same blog in FB when some one ask x the WW2 sets HO not made in 1/32.
Is true any making HO can do 20 times more money much faster as require a fraction material and one HO – 24 poses Steel mold split in two mold set cost 5 times less that a single 8 poses mold x 1/32.
That is main reason most makers stop making 1/32 but still continue with their HO.
Like revell,IMEX.esci.italeri,ACTA,Emhar,Airfix,hat.They all try and venture in 1/32 after few years they stop that line and still continue with HO.
Mars will do same once they see it .
Cost of 1/32 mold set do not justify the so long time take to recover and do profit per set unless you sale set at EXF prices and still….
You need consider wasting a lot money ahead before seen any good profit in long way.
      My thoughts.

  13. Matt Murphy says:

Some of these look very similar to King and Country poses.

  14. Mike Kutnick says:

Just my opinion and I could be wrong, I think bases added to the prone figures makes it easier to ” pop” them out of the mold ? Yes, I really like the two figure set, will be buying these when they come out

  15. ERWIN SELL says:

They may have an alike pose appearance but not quite similar in my view .There different in style ,most uniform depiction and head/hats as well and no all poses are look like K&C.
Artist may had taken some poses as idea ,but is not first time .
Most Publius are clone from metal cast figures made as well. Some PP copy metal design made figures poses also .
Britain have alike poses and made long before K&C..Maybe K&C was inspired by then too .Some Airfix ,marx, britain poses are similar too.
I see the head style been more like former Atlantic while sculpting far better …

  16. Mark T. says:

instead of releasing both Cavalry sets at first, they should release 1 Cavalry and 1 Sioux set to begin with. I think a lot of people might just see the Cavalry alone and decide to wait for a set of Indians to go with them.

  17. Greg Liska says:

Ok, nice looking figures, but if this was supposed to be the 7th Cav at LBH, they screwed up a great opportunity and now they are no more accurate than other figures out there. The rifle does look like the Spencer to me. It’s definitely not a Mo. ’73 Springfield. I can’t remember how many companys got the new bandolier, but it was present in the majority of units. 1876 was the first year the US Army issued bandoliers out. I don’t remember if it got posted on Stad’s or not, but when I was working at FT Benning, I got to see originals of the first and second model of bandolier. I sent pics, but it may have just been sent to Ed Boris. Everybody else jumped on the rest.

  18. oif-retread says:

they look decent, but i am still waiting for a 54mm version of my favorite pose: the airfix ho/oo cavalryman seated firing behind his dead horse. nothing says “last stand” like knowing you have to use your transportation as a last ditch defensive position.

  19. ERWIN SELL says:

I’m about skeptical on these sets, and I hope they come out, but we will see and wait …

  20. TD Barnecut says:

Will someone make a Little Big Horn playset based on Red Horse’s drawings?

  21. Fury from the Sky says:

I’m looking forward to these. I like the rolled sleeves, lost hats and desperate poses of men making a last ditch fight. I definitely like the poses better than Plastic Platoon, and the price too. I can overlook the pistol and carbine; at least they don’t have sabers.

  22. Jim pogwizd says:

Is there a possibility someone may pick up casting the cts mounted us cavalry, they are really good? By the way, greetings, paul. Hope you are doing well. Regards to you and Laurie. Jimmy

  23. Mark T. says:

Anyone get any recent updates about these Custer sets?

  24. ERWIN SELL says:

as far i red this still on hold ..but i could be wrong

  25. james nixon says:

The cavalry figure with pistol in right hand and holding rifle in left hand looks like the Britains-Herald figure also cavalry figure standing firing Rifle. Looks something like the Britains deetail cavalry figure and the trumpeter with flag looks something like the Britains deetail cavalry trumpeter figure but with a pistol.
