Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack Playset

Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack, this was the only playset that they did in bigger scale. As mention before playset has an interesting building and vehicle. With the help of Erwin sell and Markus Lecksheid we are able to showcase this interest playset.

Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack The Playset

Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack
The Counterattack Playset made has been done in response to the Airfix playsets As you can see from the cover of the box a number of interesting items.
Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack the set
The set came with 30 figures, a watchtower, a destroyed cafe, M20 car with a firing grappler cannon and a large machine gun. The last two items designed to fire.
Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack Cafe
Here is a closeup of the cafe. It looks a little more detailed than the Airfix buildings. It will collapse in sections when hit.
Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack Interior
Here is an interior look of the cafe. Notice on the playmat that comes with the set, it has steps leading down to the cellar. Also, you can see just behind the cafe is a statue that comes with the playset.
Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack M 20
A closeup of the M20 vehicle. Also, you can see the machine gun that fires. Three other accessories are the statue we previously mentioned, a roadblock and sign. The set has delayed mine as well.

Matchbox 1/32 Scale Counterattack sprue
This is how the M20 comes in the playset. You have to take it off the sprue and put it together. Accord to Erwin the M20 in the playset is not an accurate depiction of the M20 as Airfix snap together armor/vehicle are but still very close depiction. It is good at approximate1/35- scale versus the bulkier body filled style 1/32 matchbox line toy soldiers made that are average 58 mm scale . Still very close match but perfect 1/32 if versus Airfix 1/32 figures.

Here is the box art show armored car and cannon.
Box art part two
A nice look at the M20, this vehicle in actual life was used from 1943 to Vietnam War.
back of the box

Here we have a closeup of the statue, cannon and armored car. These sets are not easy to find. I don’t remembering seeing one at a show in the states.

This set is amazing. I really like the cafe and tower. I would have loved having this as a kid! The cafe would have been destroyed hundreds of times and the heroes from Combat would have driven Jerry out nearly every time!

I would have used that tower for Stalags and Japanese POW camps, too.

I got this set years ago, paid what for me was a high price for it at the time, but I believe it was worth it for how hard it is to find. It is a great playset. The multi-part building is very nicely done and well worth having in my battle scenes. I recommend getting a set if you can find one.

That’s the M2o I have got but it has been converted with machine guns put on it and figures. With accessories on it also it has two aerials at the back one where the grappling hook should go. I never new Matchbox did a 1/32 scale playset thank you for posting pictures

  4. ERWIN F SELL says:

MATCHBOX did this one in 1/32.Problaby in response competition to Airfix playset.
I consider Matchbox building much better than Airfix. While Aurfix vehicles 1/32 are more accurate than only Matchbox made in that scale.Still only ever made in plastic M20 non kit format 1/32.
    I got two then.
The matchbox playset is not common at all and sale from 300 to 600 least as far I know.

Matchbox did other HO scale playset never made in to 1/32.
One was a V1 rail rocket playset ..
    my thought.
    best
