Rahway has uncovered upcoming information which he has been posting and I like to share here as well. First through Hannant’s Rahway found out two future Chintoy releases. They are CHT016 Inca warriors and CHT020 Mayan warriors. No release date has been listed.

The other information that Rahway has found is on Expeditionary Force. On their future release page they are showing more figures from their Roman group and several Napoleonic. these include Hussars, curiassier and a French foot dragon.

Odds Ends Warhansa Figures Laugh of the Month

A person in a email said I am not a collector. I was surprised. How could this person declare I am not a collector? Is there some institute to verify if you are a collector or not. If this person feels he has the right to tell who is collector, I have a thousand plus people who would say I am collector. This would include several of his friends.

Now I would have to call myself a dealer/ collector. This would be because of being a dealer since 1978. As I mention many times while buying for resale I was also adding items to collection. Most of us collector/ dealers are doing the same thing.

This comment rank up with the one a over price dealer once said to me. He could not buy from me as my prices were too high. It was too funny. So is this one

  1. I can verify that you are a real person and that you are a collector, lol. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a collector. I would have a lot of money saved.

  2. Mark T. says:

So you aren’t a collector; you just happen to own thousands and thousands of toy soldiers that you have been buying all your life and run one of the most influential websites on the hobby.
    Neat trick.
Some people have such weird ideas.

  3. Biff Smith says:

When we met years ago, you seemed like a real person then, who enjoyed collecting toy soldiers. Did you somehow morph into something other? 🙂

  4. Lynn Graves says:

    Fake news!

  5. Don Perkins says:

I assume the person who made this comment was trying to say that Paul was a “dealer”, rather than a “collector”.

But in this hobby, nearly every dealer is also a collector. In fact, I’ve never seen one that wasn’t: Stengel, Barzso, Murphy, Nick VerSteeg, Keller, O’Connel, Nevins, Norm Rodriguez, Rick Eber, Rick Egan, Alan Ford, Larry Lovely, Ken Ciak, Ed Borris, etc. In fact, every dealer I’ve ever seen set up at a toy soldier show also collects.

So I don’t quite see what point he was trying in make. In this hobby the two categories are not mutually exclusive.

Very excited about upcoming Chintoys Inca and Mayan figures, Ive been banging on for years about someone doing figures like these. I brought a few sets of the Chintoys Aztec and Mextec figures and they are really well sculpted beautiful figures. What i also like about them is that they are mostly in exciting battle poses and there scale is about 56mm to 58mm which is a scale i really like, Not to small and not to big. If the new figures are anywhere near as good as the Aztec i will buy several sets. So nice to see a company branching out into different historical figures that have not been done in 1/32 scale before. Hope they keep up the really good work they are doing.

    • Don Perkins says:

Chintoys has released about 15 sets so far, and I’ve been happy to get every one of them. I even ordered duplicates of a few of them, like the mounted Civil War generals, which I thought were exceptional personality/character figures.

I actually thought Set #2 of the Conquistadors was slightly superior to Set #1. And I thought the new set of Aztecs was slightly superior to the first set of Mixtecs & Zabatecs.

So I’m also looking forward to the two new sets of Incas and Mayans. There’s no need to worry about whether new Chintoy sets will be as good as the old ones. Chintoys isn’t going to suddenly regress. But I’m hoping the rich, mystery collector in Great Britain who’s commissioning all this new production keeps going.

  7. Darren Hatley says:

Have to agree with all you said there Don. Chintoys in my opinion is one of the best Toy Soldier makers going at the moment. I liked the Aztec figures so much i brought 3 sets of them, And yes although i like the Mixtecs & Zabatecs the Aztecs are better. Of course i expect the Inca & Mayan to be of a similar high standard. I just hope they are in exciting poses and are the same scale, As you know i’m a bit fussy with scale. At this rate i could make a small Ancient South American army, Including figures ive done my best to convert to Aztec/South American figures.
I’m a little confused i thought this company was Russian? Or is the company Russian but someone from Great Britain running the show?

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

designer, artist and mold maker is russian Engineer Basevich. That been hire to do the figures x a person apparently from UK who is either shy or too misterius and not want to say who is.
Any ways whoever is .Definitely figures are designed craft and carve plus mold made by Russian .
      In other aspect .
The thematics in last sets of american native culture and those apparently new coming are much better/welcome choices versus previous non action staff sets of many eras as collectors will buy in many cases more than one set each and will give more profit to continue.Looks like the decision may had come after realizing that even so the staff sets are nice and need .Most collectors will if ever buy one set only each reducing sales/profit for maker of mold/figures and owner of company brand name apparently investing in it .
      My thoughts
      Best

      • Darren Hatley says:

Once again thanks for the info Erwin, I understand now. As i said Chintoys and Engineer Basevich are both producing really nice and different figures from the norm which is great to see, And i will continue to buy from them if they continue to bring out nice and interesting figures. I very look forward to the Inca and Mayan figures and if they are as good as i expect them to be i will buy at least 2 or more sets of these figures. If they ever read these blogs and want anymore ideas, How about Ancient Britains, Ancient Chinese Mongols or Arabs from Ancient times, As i say just a few ideas to think on?

  8. Darren Hatley says:

The only reason i haven’t brought many other sets of Chintoys figures is that they are not my eras of collecting. I only collect Ancient Medieval and Fantasy figures these days.

  9. Tom Black says:

We could use more Medieval Archers and Crossbowman!

  10. Wayne Wood says:

I bought two of each of Chintoy’s Napoleonic Command and Staff sets so I could use one set of each for their original purposes and convert the “extra” set to Mexican command and staff – which worked for most of them – the others I can figure out something later. I really like their style and can handle less active poses; with the current trend of sets consisting of six to eight poses – there is barely room to cover the action poses adequately; Chintoys does a great job of providing the “special” poses that are too often missing. I think that’s a win-win; if you don’t want static poses you’re not stuck with a bunch; if you do, you can buy as many – or as few – as you want. Very grateful.

  11. Eddie White says:

I love the Chintoys figures and have purchased every one of them. My question is: if you buy your sets from rebelalpha on ebay at $18.99 a crack and they are made by basevich, why are basevich figures at least twice as much in price? unless the British guy is subsidizing it but why would he? Another basic economic question: Who in Russia buys the basevich figures if they are the equivalent price there as here given the difference in standard of living. I’m confused.

  12. ERWIN F SELL says:

EB are more expensive cost produced and very limited made in more likely hand push mold.
Many sets are no longer produced and mold damaged
The mold for Chintoy may be run in different machinery that produce more sets with less labor and time consuming.
Not idea about the supposed UK person.
In Russia most collector I know are deep pockets, so are the ones from central Europe and not few by the way .
Most collector I know in West and central continental Europe lately are my age around and middle class or high and do have working age with good salaries that give then luxury spend income for these figures if they want them.
Base in many blogs and FB groups I see and red their comments; they do buy without any problem, included the Publius ,WARHANSA,URFUIN and Plastic Platoon brand more expensive.
I consider then a luxury made sets specific for a certain group of collectors for the market had increased not decreased at fast pace rather than decline.

I do keep good relation communication with many of these makers-owners and their set flight -sold out very quickly according to then and the fact that they run out quick for any wanting buy then or the few dealers carrying then indicate is true.
While longer run production as Chintoy and of course the many from here made in china factories TSSD,PARAGON,ATS,CTS,LOD,AIP ,others are still in over stock by thousand to last for long

Russia and east Europe combined population is way far than here in state and UK combined where most collector of this specific hobby are third age and many retired already where this hobby became very hard to keep with with ever increasing cost unfortunately.
Standard living in here and east Europe -Russia has increase more or been closer to US recently than before or 20 years ago. While new blood collector population had increase in Europe it had decrease here. In a way I see it as shift of market geographic rather than decline.
My comments above are base in my personal experience as dealer, buying and making communication with owners, dealers of Europe/East Eurasia only.
While I do not carry import more for now I may in future after family’s kids grow up more. For now, my longer hours work plus family are priority and collecting are more important.
