Once more Russian out producing all and a new maker from the east in the non stop new plastic figure world of makers..
.Cool looking figures ,great choice battle poses simple distribution .The gloss color may kill a bit the detail or is the flash light of photo!?
the muskets are way too small and thin but if cheap i can get then as same way AIP in mass.No big deal x me
To me the best 1812 Russian grenadiers are the 8 poses sets made by Black Cat in his trial with plastic ,i manage get a ton of then so cheap I end reselling then off x bargain at two shows and online. There still easy find.i kept over 200 houndred
After that the HAT brand and the 60 mm Chinese made semi painted by SUPREMe/Shunadou!? else distributor are great as Infantry/grenadier Russian.
LINTEK brand i manage import over two hundred and kept half are well done too
AIP are last in detail but great in poses action and price of course. .
The pre 1812 uniforms are very hard to get x massive battle except the ones made by
Oritet and my old former crude blow mold soviet era “Ogonyok brand set i got .
The Oritet been remade by MARS with one pose changed but the officer ,buy w flute ,drummer and officer let the set with few action poses x battle lines .We need more of that period as Russia wars engage since 1790 with french republic and then napoleon in many large battles.
hope this maker can do then as well with old mitre cap too.
very welcome news x me this set .
XVIII centuries wars till Napoleonic is only period i have plenty repeated poses ,even in vintage.

I think they should be more accord to A call to arms configuration of mid late production after they cut in poses to make set of 4 poses in 16 figures per case .Accurate had the 10 poses 20 figures first ,then revel did the recast in 10 figures after if i’m not mistake.
Wherever is is a great configuration for so great action line /square and skirmish battle formation.
One interesting detail barely ever cover in napoleonic figures is they trousers worn over the breeches with short boots. This was in fact more common in battle that standar portrait of battle using Breeches with gaiters .
    i love this set .

Nothing special, the musket looks to be poorly done, the only redeeming quality is the left handed kneeling firing pose, which maybe a first for a kneeling firing figure. Not my cup of tea. They remind of an AIP figure.

  4. rahway says:

The eagle on the shako and sleeve lace would make these Imperial Guard troops.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

Yes good idea, they can be use x Polish uprising too till 1830s as well .
Hope they do early uniforms w pre 1812 shacko or mitre

These new figures are exactly what toy soldier collectors need in order to set up the massed line, firing, and assembly formations of the Napoleonic Wars.

As admirable and artistic as Plastic Platoon & Engineer Bassevitch are, they are just a little too expensive to create mass battle formations. Even Expeditionary Force pushes the cost envelope a little far in terms of full battle set-ups, at least for many middle income collectors like myself.

But these new “1812” figures, along with AIP, HAT, Black Cat, and all the solid-cast Timpo Napoleonic reissues, are just the ticket for big battle set-ups. Even Conte’s Alamo Shako-Hat Mexicans seem inexpensive these days, and are excellently sculpted.

I hope this company does well and starts issuing cavalry, artillery, and command groups, as HAT did so well (except for the artillery, but AIP came through in that area, with great Napoleonic artillery & crews).

Black Cat, as Erwin mentioned above, truly was exceptional. The owner had big plans for add-on cavalry, artillery, and command groups, but quickly discovered the reality of a declining toy soldier market, leaving his outstanding Russian Infantry as his one and only set. I remember the Black Cat owner at OTSN many years back, expressing his disappointment in sales of what he was offering. His figures were as good as they come; there just weren’t enough buyers.

  7. rahway says:

There is one bay seller selling them for a better price but still not a bargain compared to HAT or Black Cat, let alone AIP.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

They are on sale x 24.00 from russian other seller.
Seller from CA I Recommend here no long ago and sale all chintoy sets will carry then x 20.00 in the future.
      Black cat sre gettin expensive.
Yes I spoke to BC owner and he cut immediately after producing several thousand set in long run production and barely any sales.

He end selling exess overstock x so low price that was a complete lost.
His figures were made in mold part put together to create true 3D figures pose s w incredible detail .plastic used was great and u can convert to many other poses easy.
      But not market at all.

  8. Don Perkins says:

The dealer that rahway links to above wants $35.00 per box of 20 figures. But there is another one on ebay posting a price of $24.90 for the same box, which comes out to around $1.24 per figure, still more expensive than AIP, which offers more poses (8 in current sets instead of 4).

Of course, there’s a $10.00 shipping charge from Russia, with no mention of quantity discounts (like buy 4, get 1 free). Maybe that will come later.

But that’s why some of these Russian manufacturers need a U.S. distributor — to instill in them the principles of competitive pricing.

  9. Wayne W says:

I was disappointed when I got a closer look at them. I know Black Cat are out of production but I have a slew of them I bought that I hope to combine with the slew of HaT Russians I’ve already painted years ago when I get around to painting them. I had hoped these guys would fit in and add diversity to my ranks.

I wish them the best in their new endeavor; I’m figuring the quality will improve with each new set. I hope they make it. But I’m going to pass on these, I’d be reluctant to buy them even at half their price – I don’t care where they come from.

  10. I found two sets of the Black Hat Russians and another set of AIP figures a few months ago for about $25.00 somewhere on ebay earlier this year. You can still find some deals out there. I wasn’t looking for them, but at that price I had to buy them.

  11. ERWIN F SELL says:

Also these are 60mm by description so far, that match w LINTEK brand and Supreme if next each other.
So not closed match w HAT and BC.
    plus AIP.
For me no a problem at all.
I like them enough x mass armies.
    Definettely in my list.
Mars many sets are less detail and sale .
Most everyone here got the ugly BMC mexicans by tons without a problem too.
So I do not see that negativity to then.
But to everyone their own right!!!!?
    ;-);-);-)

  12. james nixon says:

They look ok to me lovely to see another new company in the market. Hopefully Steve Weston can get hold of some. Russia is definitely leading the way with new figures.

  13. Peter Evans says:

No Infantryman during the Napoleonic wars would fire their musket from the left.
Soldiers were trained by the right, and as the vast majority were illiterate left hand / right hand was not paramount. As right handed people are more numerous than left handed person muskets were made with the lock and primer on the right. They were a few left handed muskets made but these were usually hunting pieces and not mass produced, musket stocks were also produced to sit in the right shoulder.
Apart from that they okay figures

    • admin says:

Yes I was surprised to that they would do left hand figures. I have already seen a comment by someone that he willthrow that pose away.

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

Well may be the artist was a former KGB left communist and want to leave his political idiology impressed.
I’m sure russian will have a logically explanetion to it.
BMC mexican are horrible waste of plastic in my like and poses are odd looking w not musket detail at all. Head looks so funny as hallowen comics.
The prices when first come were by lowest versus 90s value.
Today are incredible more costly adjusting to AIP value per figures
I sold off all then. No need of it.
        Texans o kept some.
        German s are trash.

Hey, it’s not easy being green – give the guy a break!

    • Wayne W says:

I’m glad you brought that up, Peter.

As for BMC Mexicans – it’s true, they weren’t the highest quality- but they ARE passable, particularly if painted up. But the BIG difference between BMC and the current offering is price. When they came out they were dirt cheap!

The Texians – except for the character figures and maybe the firing poses with some work – were only useful for casualty figures (I cut off the stands and with some hot water treatment and sanding to flatten them it worked). But for a few bucks I could get plenty of Mexican figures to act as “extras” behind my “good” figures from Conte, Marx, CTS, and later TSSD and Paragon. They also are still cheap enough for me to buy a bunch to add numbers to my grandkids’ Alamo sets (again, supplementing CTS figures).

I will say that I won’t be paying some of the prices they’re asking on ebay for BMC Mexicans – maybe if they left out the Texians; but to each his own.

  14. Charlie Baldwin says:

I’m glad to see any new Napoleonic figures on the market. We do large scale battles using 54mm-60mm figures, so these guys will come in handy. I’d really like to see somebody take on the early Napoleonic campaigns like Austerlitz 1805, Jena and Auerstauedt and Eylau and Friedland involving the Austrians, Prussians and Russians.
I’ve been hoping for a long time that AIP or Hat would go ahead and make Napoleonic Austrians of any variety, I’ll take helmet, cap or shako. As for the Russians, I would really like to see the 1805 Russian Jaeger with the distinct shako and shorter musket. Any bicorne French would be appreciated. I still use the BMC as cannon fodder in my armies, but I’m starting to phase them out.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

I agree with you Charlie Baldwin …
Still ITALERI did cover bicorne line French infantry sets 1805 and early Austrian in nice two good sets x low price, available in good price around. The Italeri Austrian two sets and French 1805 period set were among last and still in large stock by retailers, eBay else. But ITALERI stop too
      I had plenty then.
Supreme or Sunjade distributed made Chinese made 16 poses set was made with early 1805 bicorn style and cheap as well.
      https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Soldiers-Napoleonic-Infantry-Waterloo/dp/B00HYHI6LW/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_21_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=3492TM768XK441932K05

Russian pre 1811 shako and early uniform were made by Russian company Oritet in early 90s in true 54/56 mm scale set now been remade by MARS from Russia too with one pose changed but with the officer ,boy w flute ,drummer and officer made the set with few action poses x battle line action .Yet you get 4 great action poses out of 8.
The MARS box has a better larger configuration for action poses and very cheap. Still as I mentioned too before here in this post we need more of that period as Russia wars engage since 1790 with French republic and then napoleon in many large battles.
Unfortunately, AIP stop cold producing in 2013 and not plan in future so far, if any.
HAT too stops long ago and the promises Crowdfunding project of 7YW Austrian still in stage 9 since June, already well over a year half in stages. Not too optimist to see another even if it was done any time soon. So far previews Crowdfunding HAT plan had been falling to mist and nothing done.
Other sets not done much with exception of few by HAT are in long coat for early and late period. To many large battles were fought using then.

I will hope MARS and this new company from Russia bring them faster as Russian are way far ahead out producing all western few makers altogether. I base my hopes on those making and surging new rather does fall and stop with not strong bases.

In Russian and Ukraine is like two to 4 companies surging every year and nonstop making set all then; many are expensive, and some are very low or affordable to most. Shipping from most Russian dealers are even lower than here in US ironical.
I been dealing, carrying, selling imported Russian sets/toys and can assure x it.
I too buy sets off many Russian dealers/seller at eBay easy.

Here in US Scott off eBay and his own store site carry import all CHINTOY, MARS and some others Russian brands for very low price, the best around and often even cheap than Russian sellers.
      My thoughts.
