East Coast Toy soldier Show November 4

The 30th Annual East Coast Toy soldier Show will be held at the Rothman Center on the campus of Farleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack New Jersey. The show is from 9AM to 3PM. The show will have dealers of all sizes with figures and accessories in plastic and metal.  Some of the dealers that we know will be there will be Armies in Plastic. We are waiting to see if he will have any new offerings from his line of plastic figures.  Stockade Miniatures will be there with offerings in metal and plastic. Our very good friend John will have his table with nice mix of plastic for all levels of collectors.  Another great friend Gerry Watts is going to have a great selection of plastic and metal. He is hoping to have a table of just figures for $.50 each!  Don Ducotte of Heritage Toys is suppose to be up with his swappable figures.  These are just some of the dealers that will be there.

If you have not been to the show, you are missing a fun day. One of the highlights is seeing the set ups of George Guerrio. George will have mintuare dioramas of his metal figures that he is selling. You can spend hours admiring the displays or end up buying some to take home. Rick Eber will be there with rare and unusual Marx. Last year he had a rare Marx gas station. It will be interesting to see what he has this year. Another one who has been there with Marx is Francis Turner.

So you can see it will be a great time for you to come enjoy this great show. See you there.

Just wondering if we’ll see the photos of the Woodfield Hyatt action that I sent weeks ago.

  2. PJR says:

And I was wondering why my comment on the Paragon Scouts doesn’t appear on the right side bar

  3. Don Perkins says:

I don’t know where Mr. Ducote’s OTSN photos are, or PJR’s comment on the upcoming Paragon Scouts, but I’d like to see both.

As to the East Coast Soldier Show, I really wish I could go. Unfortunately, not being independently wealthy, I have to limit my trips to just the shows in the Midwest — Chicago, Indianapolis, and Michigan. I might hit Gettysburg in the next couple of years, simply because it allows me to visit the battlefield Gettysburg tourist sites at the same time. I’ve been there twice in the past 30 years, but not since the new Visitor’s Center was opened. Anyway, for those of you attending New Jersy, have fun!

I have only a few pictures left to put up on OTS. The pictures require to be resize which takes time. I have other commitments that are taking precedence. I hope to get those pictures up soon.
It is hard to do shows outside of certain distance anymore due to cost. Before I had to have my operation, I looked at the cost to do OTS and said no. East Coast Soldier Show is a fun show and we will see what turns up. If nothing else we will get to see some friends. I will pick up the Paragon scouts as it is a short run production.

Hello: In addition to the “plastic” exhibitors mentioned above, Bill McMaster of BMC Toys has reserved three tables; Gerado Vasquez of Toy Soldiers Depot is down for two tables, Francis Turner–Marx Toy Museum three tables. Not counting the large amount of average collectors who reserved tables and will be bringing along a great mix of plastics. Keep in mind that there’s no PreShow Room trading or Floor Rights and with only a two hour dealer set-up time on Sunday, everyone has an equal chance to find treasures at the show.
    See you at the show,
    Bill

Thank for the other names of people. There will be many more people with plastic that we forget such as Marxman and Hobby Bunker. I will have to stop by Gerado’s stands and say hello. Bill McMasters is another old friend from the Stad’s list days we will have to see what he is up to. Laurie and I will be in when doors open to the public.

Important: Last year, the outside contractor who operates the Food Concession Stand, did not show up and many visitors were unable to purchase snack/food or drinks. We have assurance that they will be open for our 2012 show.

However, if you have any health concerns which require water, or snacks/food during the show hours, it would be prudent to stock a chest or cooler with food and water and keep it in your car.
    See you at the show,
    Bill

Hopefully the food people will be there. Burger King and Dunkin Donuts are a short car drive away. Also in the Hackensack area is White Manna which is famous for their slider burgers. They have been featured on several food shows. Laurie and I will end up there or Clinton Diner on the way home. The Clinton Diner is off Route 78 outside of Clinton New Jersey. The food is excellent you get get anything from a burger for to full meals. The full meals come with soup or salad bar. I reccomend the salad bar as it is one of the best in the area. The meal is so much we have seconds to take home. On the burgers they have a wide choice including the Bunch burger which has a fried egg on top of your burger.

Don’t forget the Coach House Diner right on Rt. 4 east bound. Very close to the show.

More importantly, remember to turn your clocks back one hour before you retire on Saturday night before the show. As we go off Daylight Savings Time and return to Standard Time.
