No question this is a very nice set and a great contribution to toys in general, collectors aside. Is it available in general retail anywhere?

I saw the display, but must wonder; exactly what does “a set” contain? With a single box is there is only one version, not various “step-up” versions.

      Don
The basic playset contains three buildings, 100 figures and accessories. You can go to their web site to see the basic playset. The Buckman tavern and bridge are sold seperate. Both of those items are $59.95 each.

The playset actually comes with 4 buildings: 1 Salt Box house, 2 two-story colonial style houses and the belfry. 115 figures, new split rail fence, stone walls and board fence, etc.

The playset, Buckman’s tavern, extra fence and buildings are available only through Barzso Playsets.. Extra boxes of figures are also available from Barzso’s website as well as several dealers.

    Thx

I can see where that was confusing. I’ve changed it to read “4 buildings on the green (3 houses and the belfry).”

    Thx

It was a beautiful playset. And I thought it was especially nice that Concord Bridge was offered at the same time as an add-on. We finally have a real Battle of Lexington and Concord. Ron also announced that next year’s playset will be “Seige of Yorktown”. He had on display in his room prototypes of approx. 12 new Continental and British figures for the set, all of which were very original, impressive sculpts. I studied them carefully there in Ron’s room, but would already like to take another look at them. Maybe either Jim or Ron will post them on the internet.
It’s a pity we’re apparently going to have to wait for an entire year to get them, since they are so far along in the design stage. But who knows? Ron likes to spring a surprise on us every once in awhile, and maybe he’ll release boxed sets at Indianapolis 2013 next March. What do you think, Jim? I know you’re in on the planning and design of many of Ron’s offerings. You’re actually one of the few people who are privy to Ron’s thinking.

    Don,

Glad you like the new playset and add-ons! It’s my favorite.

I’m just as excited to get the new figures for Yorktown as you are! But, making injection molded plastic figures is an expensive and time consuming proposition…

Hopefully the sales of “The Battle of Lexington Green” playsets and extra boxes of figures, etc. will be strong enough that it makes sense to go ahead with the Yorktown project (which will not be ready before next September).

For now I’m just going to enjoy Lexington Green:-)

Not only are sets like these (Historical Themes rather than TV/Movie themes) neat for us history buffs and/or toy collectors/enthusiasts, but they are an important addition to America’s culture and society.

And… my slash-mark key just left the keyboard in disgust. Sorry.

The only trouble about these “expensive” toys (including my Swappables) is the limited audience.

BMC had the good sense to arrange the cost of the sets at regular middle-class joes in general retail (however obligated Toys-R-Us might have been to McMasters).

The thing I did not understand was the atrocious sculpting. As far as I know, the cost of sculpting is considerably less than that of mold-making. (He could have hired ME for probably the same amount if he offered me a cut of the profits, and I would have done a MUCH better job).
Seems like, for “a few dollars more”, those could have been awesome sets and the figures still highly desirable instead of joked about.

    I hope Barzso’s latest set does well enough to allow two things;
    1. Bring about the Yorktown set,
    2. Bring about the end of Out of Stock-ness in “Battle of N. O.” militia.
    And do ’em in blue.
