Austin Miniatures Western Figures

Here sample of the Austin Miniatures Western Figures. I do not know if the samples were in metal or resin. There are some  interesting poses. Can anyone confirm if the figure on the far right is suppose to be a Clint Eastwood type figure ? No date of when these figure will come out.  These  figures will work with your TSSD western figures.

Floyd has sent us another picture of the Austin Miniatures. This picture was taken through the glass of the display. From this angle you can see that the figure on the far right is in the style of Clint Eastwood from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Also the figure on the far left looks like John Wayne. A nice group of figures for western collectors.

          Hello Austin
That is great to hear as there are people in the United States and aboard who are waiting to acquire father’s product. There is confusion on what poses will be available. Can you give us an update?

          • Austin Beidelschies says:

      Hi,
I wanted to order the western town buildings. But I can’t get on the website of Austin Miniatures. How can i order these wonderfull buildings?

  2. Don Perkins says:

When you say “the figures are in resin”, do you mean the production runs will be resin, rather than injection molded plastic?

  3. Brian Johnson says:

How tall would the kneeling shooter be if he stood up!!LOL,

  4. Ed Borris says:

I have four of the resin prototypes, the ones that aren’t John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Very nicely detailed figures, good poses too.

  5. Austin Beidelschies says:

        Dan
I have email Austin Miniatures to see if we can get the prices of the buildings. If we do, we will post them.

        • Don Perkins says:

The Austin western buildings were all pretty nice. There were quite a few different ones for sale. They were also somewhat on the pricey side, I thought. If memory serves me correctly, the white church was $100.00, but it may have been $125.00. It seems that none of the many painted buildings they displayed had prices on them. You had to inquire for each one. They had what I thought was a nice little rigid foam hangman’s gallows which consisted of a small raised platform and then a raised pole to hang the horse thief on. It was painted brown. I thought it was pretty neat, and would look good in my western towns. I asked the price, which turned out to be $28.00. I looked at it again, and just thought it was just too expensive for such a small piece. It was the smallest piece in the room. I considered buying it for a few seconds, but then remembered that I’m retired, and not independently wealthy, and therefore can’t afford every single thing I take a shine to at these toy soldier shows, even at OTSN, where I’m typically in a buying fever. When I consider Austin’s cost of producing the piece, coupled with the cost of attending the show, and their need to make a profit as an incentive for all their efforts, then the price was probably justified. But at the time, it seemed on the high side of comparable things, so I passed. I did, however, acquire a set of their light brown cowboys while I was in the room.

    Thanks Glenn Smith

  7. John says:

These figures are great. From the Duke (far right) to Clint (far left).
If this is any indication of the quality of Austin’s work, then I know they have a great future. I love what I see. bring it on!

    • admin says:

      HI John
I agree these are great figures, but we have to wait until September.

      • John says:

Keep me in mind when the website is up and running. I want to see what else they’ll offer.
I saw a pic of the figures with some buildings above and behind them that looked great too. I figured they also made those.
A friend of mine back east is a big collector. Buys two of everything. One for display and the other to store and never open. Been doing that since the mid-50s, so imagine his collection. he is very interested in what Austin comes up with.
He doesn’t do computers so relys on me to let him know.
So I’m intersted in all pics, info and when the website comes up.
Again, great work folks! I’m impressed.

  8. pjr51 says:

    Hello John

Nope they didn’t make those buildings. I have maker’s name and link here somewhere. I will dig it out

  9. John says:

That figure next to Clint can go as Bat Masterson maybe. Better yet, keep them nameless and I.D. them by their work.
Keep me informed of these and future figures. Extremely impressed. I was an artist for 40 years and I know talent when I see it. Good work!
Ha! I just noticed I placed the Duke-like figure and Clint-like figure at opposite ends in my earlier discription. That happens sometimes when yer a grayhair like me!
    LOL

    • John says:

Do give Austin my name and email so he can keep me informed of their progress. I do like what they have and can only imagine how far they can go. Endless ideas for such talented folks. They will do well.

      Hello Doug
Thank for let us know how they paint up. Very impressive. I am looking forward to these figures as I know other people are. I hope they have great success.

  11. Ron Angleton says:

These figures are very nice. I heard he is going to do US Marines next and I think that too is a great idea. Love to have more Marine poses!

    • admin says:

      Hi Ron
You may be confused, Beau of Cunningham Collectibles is doing U.S. Marines. They are a long way off. Austin Miniatures is doing western right now. TSSD should be announcing the sets 25 and 26. Speculation of what the figure will range from anicents to Alamo. I will wait and see.

      • Ron Angleton says:

Sorry for the confusion, one of the guys at the Indy show that had a set of these western figures displayed, told me himself that the company was going to do Marines next and he was trying to talk him out of it. My reply was, why would you want to do that, as we can always use more pacific marines from Beau or anyone else that can do them. I would like to see some Korean era ones with parkas on from the Chosin Resovoir battle, and Marines from Khe Sanh armed with M-14 rifles…..Ron Stad please pass this email on to the company…..

  12. dan beidelschies says:

Hello, I am Dan Beidelschies, the owner of Austin Miniatures. I am releasing 8 cowboys at the Chicago Toy Soldier show. I also have 9 different foam buildings, some of them include a church, a livery, 3 different saloons, a jail, and a gallows. I also have many accessories like coffins, water troughs, and an outhouse. My website austinminiatures.com will be up and running soon. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks again for the show of interest.
    Dan

    • admin says:

      Hello Dan
That is great news. People are waiting for your new line and you should be the hit of the show. I know I will be buying the figures for my collection and will have to get the outhouse for for Laurie’s collection. We wish the best.

    • Edward L. Bearnson says:

      Dear Dan,
These figures are just awesome, we can always use some more cowboys. I won’t be able to attend the Chicago show, any idea how much these will cost?
Thanks, and I hope to see you make many more periods if these do well.
      Ed Bearnson.

  13. Brian Johnson says:

Still hope it’s not too late to FLATTEN the bases !! LOL.No seriously the bases are terrible but I will hold my nose and get some, can always cut them off.

    • Ed Borris says:

The bases on the newer three figures are a bit large, but the bases on the older figures aren’t bad. These are really nice figures, a must have for the cowboy affeciniandos.

      • Brian Johnson says:

“a bit large” a bit large! There’s one new pose who looks like he just made it to the top of Everest!!LOL.If a company can’t make figs that can stand on their own two feet like the old Lido Marx GI’s etc then just give them a plain flat base(AiP) or at the most bases like Beau has on his Confederates. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

    • dan beidelschies says:

hi Brian i flattened all the bases, should be getting final prototypes from china soon, will post pictures soon as possible, thanks dan, austin miniatures

  14. Ed Borris says:

Well, they are not the size of a continent, so to me they are a bit large. Other then the new three I think the bases are average size maybe even smaller. Smaller would be better, but the size of the base will not stop me from purchasing a figure that is good. I have 12 of them and they are well sculpted figures with good action poses, that’s good enough for me.

  15. Ed Connell says:

Great news. Wow, those figures are super nice, especially painted up. I would like to see some mexican bandits, and some mean looking hand fighting Indians, with club tomahawks, and knives. Perhaps more Eastwood figures, like Joe Kid, Josey Wales, or with the poncho also (I can’t remember his name in that one where he was the bounty killer, ol prophet just called him Joe). How do I get these figures though ? I can’t go to shows. Will they be available direct from the manufacturer. Can’t wait to check out the buildings as well, a water tower w/walkway around it,may be a very good addition with the buildings. Regardless thanks for doing these great pieces.
Thanks for the news Paul, and everyone else.

  16. Ed Borris says:

They should be available at OTSN, I would assume at some point there would be some on line store from which to make a purchase. If not, just contact me I will be at OTSN, it’s a stone throw from where I live and I’ll pick them up for you. From what I hear they should be made available in injected plastic at OTSN, right now they are resin and very fragile.

  17. Ed Connell says:

Thanks for the offer Ed, thats very kind of you. Hopefully Dan’s website will be up before the show. I would also think someone will carry them for retail, if he doesn’t sale them direct. As far as resin goes, I definitely prefer soft plastic. I haven’t had good luck with hard plastic, nor resin figures. Even metal figure parts can break. Worse comes to worse, I may have you pick me up a set of them, I definitely want at least one set of these figures.
