Markus sent us some pictures of the Jean Fort and contents.

Markus found it funny that the set had a stage coach to go with the 7th cavalry as shown oin the box.  A weird combination, a caisson or covered wagon would been more pratical.

Another interesting thing on Markus’ box is this sticker. It shows told number of sets to Toys R US was 538.  It was not a big seller or Jean did a short run of the sets.  Markus’ set is number 171.  Much to specuilate about.

Since I have space I thought share a few items from  the collection and items up on Ebay. Here we have two Atlantic buffalo.  When I first photographed them I thought they were same. Then I noticed the one buffalo tail up and realize I had two different poses. they are designed to be fighting each other.

Here is the Timpo German mortar team.  I believe this came before the Britains Deetail German mortar team.  On Timpo my feeling is I like some of the later figures of the cowboys and Indians.  The early figures I am not as thrilled due the faces.  I like the Plasty more as can make up original poses.  This is because they did not do overmoulding you could mix the pieces easier.

Finally  the Marx doll house girl. what is interesting on this figure it was made in Germany. It showed up in a batch of  Marx Comic figures.  It is the first time I saw this version.

Interesting box pictures of JH v fort.
Markus I forgot reply to you before ,sorry
A french collector has a box and it come w cowboys painted and Indian
Not carriage but cannon caisson and few indians plus totem.
So it was done in both configuration.
I will get photo direct to you soon..
The small number in sticker is number of box receiving invoice amount sent to TRU only.
Not amount made or number produced.
    Best…
Sorry I skip last comment from you in other post w my photos of Fort.
    Best.

  2. ERWIN SELL says:

“Lieferantenartikelnummer #”indicate number of forts/item sent to TRU by supplier-not necessarily the maker as could be a third part distributing then to TRU as well ,like SIMBA and BIG =JH group use many third party distributing in EUROPE and rest world. But in this case indicate direct from JH brand distributed not doubt .

The small number (538)is that particular shipment amount sent to main TRU warehouse (not store) in pallets as there over 60 stores in Germany now. I do not know exactly how many back then of course.
In that occasion -month or year wherever amount they sent on that order .(So far indication in label says 7 pallets least )
The auftragsnummer has (vendor number first-31) and rest order number made to then as follow.(132-365)
The article number =artikelnummer is number article given by TRU to all JH-Big products carry at stores ,last numbers indicate year in what TRU officially give JH-BIG the right to place /shelf or stock items in stores at specific country=Germany = Number 987 with number 9 for country ,87 year of allocation.=Year allocation does not mean year exactly done or store open but number register to be allocated to any new coming in the data base system by TRU corp.
Last number 7 in bottom indicate number pallets of the order in which that box was located.
Not a very common way used here and I most admit very organized way to ship orders.
I had done this not x translation of course but to explain way the invoice were done. Today varied more .
    Best.

  3. Les White says:

For brand new figures the MARS sets seem to have a lot of flash ,especially on the faces. These could be test shots of course and not production figures ,but still unusual to see these problems.
The detail is better than on the painted ones which is good to see.
    Still useful modern sets.

  4. Brian Johnson says:

I hope the finished figures lok a lot better than the ones shown here, the pictures of the painted figures looked a lot better.

  5. TDBarnecut says:

The Stage Coach included with the fort is not odd when you consider that the purpose of the fort and soldiers was to protect the civilians or settlers. You might use the mounted troops to escort the Coach which might then be attacked, etc. The ensuing battle would be just like you see in the movies.
