  1. Don Perkins says:

These Napoleonic Wars general staff figures really are quite neat. They are all very well sculpted, historically accurate, a good quality soft plastic, a near perfect 54mm scale, and each figure represents a specific historical character figure.

Naturally, there were so many well-known personalities on the French General Staff that there had to be Set 1 and Set 2 to cover the French, whereas the lesser-known Spanish and Portuagese staffs were combined into a single set. But the British, Austrian, and Russian sets each contained 8 figures of those countries’ respective General Staffs and/or commanders during the Napoleonic period.

I’ve got them all so far, and plan on acquiring these two new sets as soon as they are released.

Incidently, the least expensive place to order is Rebel Alpha on the internet (which I think is the same as Scott’s Model Shop in California). He sells them for $18.95 a set, in contrast to everyone else who seems to list them around $27.95 per set. He carries them all, combines postage, and his postal charges are very reasonable. I think my last order was for 2 sets (the Russian and the Austrian), and the combined postage was something like $2.85. Scott also gets the new releases right away.

To order, just google “Chintoys General Staff Rebel Alpha ebay”, and it will take you right to Scott’s website.

Yes that is his father business hobby store that he continued ,Scott told me these last sets are ordered and will be here very soon for him to sale, his other sets had sold fast and reorder often…
He has a way to bring most other carry more cheap ,see other sets he sale versus other seller too.
    best..

Love these guys; so far I’ve bought two of each because as I’ve said before, many of them make great Mexican general and staff officers; not to mention the possibilities for other types of conversion.

  4. Don Perkins says:

It’s like you’re getting Engineer Bassevich (EB) figures in quality and originality, but at only half the price of the normal EB sets.

  6. Don Perkins says:

I received the two new Chintoy sets (Napoleonic Prussian General Staff & Napoleonic Spanish/Portugese General Staffs. They were both of excellent quality, as is usual for this series.

But now that the Napoleonic General Staffs have been exhausted, along with Sharpe’s Rifles, we’re left to wonder what, if anything, this mysterious English gentleman behind the Chintoy line might have in mind for a follow-on. This whole series remains so shrouded in mystery that no one has even the slightest idea who to make inquiries of. The header cards have no address, no phone #, no website, no email — nothing.

Here we have 64 brand new, well-designed, well-sculpted, highly-detailee, 54mm, soft-plastic original figures with multiple uses that filled a completely neglected niche, rounding out a big, empty spot in Napoleonic toy soldier production, and we don’t even have someone we can thank.

  7. Wayne W says:

Agree Don, I’m finally getting around to painting my “spare” set(s) of guys as Santa Ana’s staff and commanders. Nothing makes one appreciate the sheer beauty of the sculpts like painting figures. It WOULD be nice to know who to thank.

By the same token, hearing about what some of our better-known makers go through with their more demanding and less understanding customers I can understand why the person(s) behind Chintoys might be reluctant to be revealed (LOL).

    • Mark T. says:

That’s the best Custer figure I’ve ever seen! What a great sculpt! The Rebs are perfect, too. Stonewall Jackson could even do double duty as a pirate.

  9. Brian Johnson says:

So that’s the colour they’re using not Oh I don’t know BLUE for Union and GRAY for Confederates and of course the flag on the Confederate bag has to go .LOL .

  10. ERWIN SELL says:

Custer !? .They could put anybody else but him ,he was not a main staff officer in Union army at all!
    Where is George Gordon Meade??
I can go on with list of not represented for historical staff …
Who is making these set choosing a kid watching video games!!??
    My thoughts.
    Best

    • admin says:

Prehaps they will make a second set of figures. The words General staff are misnomer. In the austrian set done they had a guerilla leader who was never part of the general staff.

  11. Andy says:

Custer’s ACW exploits included reckless bravery on the battlefield and hot air balloon surveillance. Will the set come with a balloon and basket vehicle? (Only kidding, but it does give me an interesting display idea. Now where to find materials to build an observation balloon??) Do any domestic dealers carry Chintoy? I just see Great Britain for which I don’t want to pay heavy postage. I agree with Brian about GREEN???? I guess they’ll stand out in dioramas.

  12. Brian Johnson says:

Why is Gano wearing a “Tricorn”?Did he really still wear that style in the 1860s?
