The final figure is Andreas Hofer.  Andreas lead various rebellions against Napoleon until he was capture.  Napoleon is supposely said. “Give him a fair trial then shoot him.”  This figure of the eight is the most interesting  as I see you could use it for other periods.  I defintily see using him as a pirate.  Another possiblity is  as a pioneer and possible at the Alamo.

Closer Look at Chintoys Austrian Figures  Final Thoughts

The figures as before are excellent as their previous offering. It looked like they were stretching to find figures to include in the group.  I will be curious to hear your thoughts.

I’ve already ordered two sets – maybe one day I’ll get some 1/32 Austrians to go with the command – in the meantime I can make use of the “extra” set for some of my other Armies- including Mexican command when I can restart my Alamo project.

    Chintoy personal review.
Detail as always great. As heard from others buyers reported here and base in my first sets appear the mold figures keep coming very well done and not flash in plastic most…

The set is staff .So to me not much value ,but one of course enough and welcome.

Why they made this small charter (Andreas Hofer) That is not belong to any Austrian empire staff neither a general or marshal , nor he fought Napoleon in any battle or main campaign but small rebellion in very local region that was suppressed most and fought most by it own German principles(Bavarian-Saxon) allied troops and few french troops during a period of few months and did not affect any Napoleon campaign or else ; resumed in few small battles .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Bergisel
To me is is a waste and not use neither I will represent it ,plus the figure is very in not action pose to be use as other unless heavy altered.
If they make a army country military high rank staff set it should be related to it .

But if they did comic fiction sharpes charter set in first I guess they can make any mix with others too .So if they do Spaniard staff they may do Agustina de Aragon ,Francisco Abad Moreno or Francisco de Longa and so on…or may be any pirate too from the era

More important could had been any main general or high ranking officer .
Where is Archduke Ferdinand Karl Joseph of Austria-Este ?
Where is Joseph Graf Radetzky de Radetz (Chief of staff of Imperial Austrian army from 1809-1812)?

    My thoughs.
    Best regards.

I was surprise on the selection of Andreas Hofer too. When doing research in Wikipedia on the various people several had short biographies. I feel it was not a great pick of figures.

      • It’s a good selection if you happen to enjoy painting your figures, as nearly all collectors in Europe do, because they’ve made figures with a variety of different uniforms. It wouldn’t be so good from this perspective if if they were all just in similar General Staff uniforms.

The Hoffer figure is instantly recognisable and while he isn’t one of the big name well known characters he has a popular following, as a rebel, in many parts of Central Europe.
        Just my view.

Is the colour shown here the colour they will be when sold in N.America? I know there was a problem when Sharpe’s Rifles weren’t in Rifle Green!!

    • Erwin says:

      Same colors x all.
The sharpes from Chintoy had never been made in green as far i know and sold here very fast. The seller.(only one in US selling) had then listed in ebay often and you can check his sales fast by number.
He had brough all sets several time every month and gone.
It tell me color is not issue and most end up getting then.
      Best regards…

These new Chintoy sets are in my opinion the very best 54mm plastic figures as yet produced. The detail in the sculpts is unsurpassed and put many other plastics in the same scale to shame. We must remember that the new lines of plastic 28mm figures produced for the wargamers now incorporate excellent levels of detail and are far more proportionally correct than ever before. With this in mind, manufacturers of 54mm figures must raise their game. These chintoy products have certainly done that, and whilst more expensive they are certainly worth it.
I am a painter and collector of all types of figures, predominately in plastic and these match anything I have seen from the metal market. I hope they continue to produce more sets at this amazing quality. I understand that there is a connection here with Engineer Basevich in Russia, whose figures are also very good. I have painted a number of his sets, most recently the Cuban revolution set, see my website for pictures.

  7. Brian McIver says:

it would be fantastic if they did some civil war general staff!!@!!!

    • Andy says:

I agree, Brian. (Assuming you mean ACW vs. ECW, etc..) Just read a book about 10 CSA Generals which was very interesting.

      • admin says:

We have no idea who is behind these Chintoy figures other than they are being made by Engieer Bassevitch. There have been rumors more figures, but for now it looks like they will be doing Napoleonic figures.
