It worked for me – very interesting. While I was playing with my Marx and MPC, here was a whole other world of toy soldiers.

Yes.I had it and is one of last made .I got others as well..

Casablanca/Gulliver and Trol did a lot of forts as well others..
In Argentina the makers produce most copies of British firm but also varied poses and did new too.
More interesting in argentina are the solid verssion of timpo many sets as well herals …

Catalog downloaded as a zip file, folder inside with jpg’s. Lots of cool toys – what scale were the Elastolin copies?

The independence of Brazil soldiers are not copies but original made by Gulliver ,they are unique nice poses. In 90s unpainted figures were sold in too from unknown source I think. I got one bag of those from Uruguayan seller on eBay.
    Best…

Interestingly I never liked this set (“Independence or death”), nor the set Zorro, I do not know, until today I do not like any of them. I gained as a child the set “Fort Apache” and only he interested me, until today I continue with this feeling.

We all got something as a child that we did not like. I got clothes when I was expecting toy soldiers. I took my Christmas money and bought toy soldiers.

Man, clothes were the worst gift for a kid. I hated that.

My biggest Christmas disappointment was in 1977 when I managed to get my mother to agree to order me the Marx Comanche Pass set, even though she thought I was getting too old for toy soldiers at 12. I was so happy, but then just before Christmas we got a notice from Sears that they were out of stock. I’m still kind of traumatized over that. LOL.

    Nice Post Paul !
