Simba Castle Question  Bill Nevins information

Pul   Just returned from the market with a Simba Castle Playset. It came in a plain white carton with the Simba address and this number:
414Y06K0010
No other markings. This is a huge piece with a “rock” foundation, 4 towers, Man Gate Drawbridge an inside building and  figures. It’s big!
10-12 silver knights
10-12 black knights
6 Painted horses (nice)
weapons sprue
4 painted figures. A crew of some sort.

also:

1 large siege tower
2 working catapults

Any info on Simba would be appreciated. Why is this set in a plain box rather than their usual color boxes?  Thanks ….Bill

Bill yours is the KING CASTLE version 3er production series by catalog reference number, I just dig out off my vendor info.
the castle come in slide cover with illustration, you slide the case cover by the sides to pull out the inner carton case with castle inside.
The castle shoul be dark grey with round towers ,square rock base were it seat .
Knights were first full pinted, later with minor paint touch and last unpainted in two color sides. Produced from 2001-2006
That castle is discontinued and hard to get now, I think if you did not described is missing just two pine tress, I have to compere with mine in few days. Otherwise complete.

      best..

Yes, Erwin that’s it. The catapults and the siege tower are nice add ons.
        It’s a big sucker.
I’m thinking of make a board to display it and fill it up with all different Knights, Vikings and Robin Hood types.

Looks like it would be good for 54 mm and 60 mm figures.
Not bad for a twenty dollar bill.

        • erwin says:

Yes x both scales is good. Great quality plastic German designed too.
Nice find, funny is when first come out $24.99 was price I paid in 2001, I just check my box and still have the receipt inside. So you got something long not produced x less.
          Good deal!! indeed

i did not know Simba had ceased production on their castles. too bad as they are fantastic and the larger ones fit well with 54mm figures. they are expandable, so you can add more walls and buildings. toys r us sold a clone a few years ago under the superplay line; they were clearanced down to $10 or so. the german amazon site still lists a few.

as to the plain box, is it also possible it was a sears/wards set sold by mail order? i bought one for my son through sears mail order 15 or 20 years ago, and i seem to recall it not having the fancy picture box.

      Mike.
No they had not seased at all.
The last model sold in 2013 is a revised version of same larger done in 2010 with all new round towers.
In 2015 the annunce an all new castle.I had no see it listed on sale
Most last 4 models are easy to find online.
Olders, inlcluded the first in 1993 are very hard to find.
I have only 7 different of total 11 done.

I like to add few detail about Simba and castlkes in general.
there is a book call (Toy castles and knights) by Joseph W Sveck.
It is decent photo guide book with general information,in it show the many castles done by SIMBA as well Marx ,elastoin ,Britain,reamsa-comansi -jecsan,titilbao and many others.
I had found the book has some miss and not correct information ,specially when author is referring to scale figures and confuse a bit in US brand ,most rest as far I had research after match with correct info.
The book is base in his personal collection and not much about brand history. Picture quality are color ,not gloss but fine.
Also SIMBA brand is not carry direct to the US because after issue with Wal ,Mart in Germany.
SIMBA is the main distributor of toys in Germany for most retailers.
Walmart always want bring their other line, among many issues on top of main that happen ending in Walmart living Germany or actually kick out by Germany. The supplier problem was one of them.
Simba distribute too using a third party in US and abroad as well and also associate with three others form in a company group(nor corporation please).
You can find SIMBA castles more easy from German toys web site and some time eBay. The hard part as they are bulky and heavy shipping will pretty much cost you more than actual castle.
4 Different castles from SIMBA were done as to increase size by combining. I did it once and cover a 6 by 5 feet space .(Huge).
First two castles were done to match playmobil early castle and are the best in high w big ramparts. YOU can easy blend castle parts with playmobil too to increase size.
CTS sold no long ago one of those ,it come with rare first knight made by then(toy soldiers) not playmobil style.Name is (BLACK MORE ) castle ,figures poses were a mix o Timpo style with Elastolin and others, very nice.

  5. Billy Hill says:

I love the modularity of these castles. This one was by combining 2 castles. Once I organize a large enough space that I can use for an extended period, I’ll be combing 4 of them.

  6. Billy Hill says:

One of the Toy Major castles is of similar design and equally modular. Until recently, these were plentiful on Amazon and eBay, but they now seem to be drying up.

    • erwin says:

I saw it in Kmart, bought on but it is hard to blend with SIMBA, the walls are a bit lower and stand hard, the towers are build as a folding 4 parts light plastic.
towers are a bit different in top too .I prefer the Simba design ,more sturdy.
Another version is been sold in 4 different models by no SIMBA or TM ,is another brand ,it is all over eBay now with same byzantine type knights I sale in my store. Nice knights figures by the way.
I had not get chance get the castle yet

  7. peter evans says:
