February 2024 Odds Ends Blue Box

Right now the collection is a mess and when I can get a chance I am working to get it in order. There have been surprises such this Blue Box Historical figure of Alexander the Great. I have no idea where I got him but I know these figures are tough. One collector has spent two years looking the Blue Box Sir Francis Drake. I will be sharing more of these figures in future postings.

February 2024 Odds Ends Songbird

On some figures and pieces I remember how I got them The Nabsico Sky King Songbird is one of those. I would take my parents for rides as they did not drive. After my father died I took my mother to a market in the Amish country. I noticed a small flea market across the street. Going through the market I spotted the Sky King Songbird. This had been something I had wanted since the offer in 1956. I seem to always get the horse. After I picked up the plane, I spotted another one, then a moment later I had a third one. finally I found a fourth one.

You can see the complete set here.

 Charbens Elephant

One thing I will need help is identifying some of the pieces. For example is this from Charbens Circus set?

Cowboy with a bag.

This figure I have shown before. Erwin sent me a photo of the Tibidabo cowboy set containing the figure I misidentifed as Charbens. Looking through the photos I discovered that this figure was also Tibidabo. A previous owner had painted it with gray paint.

Health Update

I had my procedure on Tuesday for my Ab Fib. Everything went well. I was there only for three hours. I felt so good the next day that I did a flea market. There I found a few items including a conversion of a Marx figure.

I remember watching “Sky King” on Saturday mornings when I was little. I loved the show, but couldn’t figure out cowboys flying in airplanes. I had the same problem with “Nellybellie” on “Roy Rogers…” What can I say? But I watched the shows. Great memories. I wish I’d known about the Roy Rogers figures I would have eaten a lot of cereal.

I don’t know how many boxes of Rice Krinkles (?) I went through to collect the Robin Hood figures and Dinosaurs and fish and…

I have all the BB historical figures for many years , my Alexander have some colors different.I sold some extras long ago.
Is true these are hard to find ,specially in the US and completely as their material stiff plastic made then harder to find intact .
The unpainted verssion are less common .
