Very pleased to inform you of the release of one new set as follows:-

• 60 ALB 06              Medieval Arab Command (Drums & Flags)

The box set contains 9 model soldiers and 1 horse model. It is made up of three components: 1. Senior Commanders; 2. Musicians and Flag-Bearers; and 3. Mubarizun (Single-Combat Champion

Senior Commanders with one mounted and one on foot. The mounted commander is modeled after Saladin, the famous Medieval Islamic military leader.

The Arab musicians contain 2 drummers and 2 trumpeters cum flag-bearers. The arms and equipment of these models can be swapped with other models in the range for a greater variety of poses.

It is a common event in inter-tribal battles for individuals to be given the opportunity to meet the enemy for single combat. In the early days of Islamic conquests, these champions are referred to as Mubarizun. These select groups of warriors are also often tasked with targeting the enemy’s senior commanders. The death of a key tribal or religious leader can cause a collapse of the enemy forces’ morale especially when the conflict is closely linked to the leader’s personal agenda.

All models are supplied unpainted.

PS: The next set due for release is 60 ALB 07 Bedouin Arab with Camelry. The set is still in tooling. We hope to be able to release the set by the first or second week of December 2023, in time for the Christmas season. With that, the Medieval Arab series is complete. The range will resume with the Turks and Mamluks after we slot in our gaps in the catalog:-

GRK 01 and GRK 02 = Greek Psiloi and Peltasts

ACW SHL and ZVE = ACW Infantry in shell jackets and Zouaves.

York Toy Show 2023 a Review

This year’s York Toy Show was tough for me. What had been a fun show last year this year you had to work to find items. I found some mounted Deetail Foreign Legion but missing swords. so I will have to find swords. Likewise, a Timpo mounted Grenadier officer I found in a box had no sword. The rest of box was common Timmee.

Regular sources at the show had slim pickings. If I found something decent it was overpriced. One dealer had four western buildings for sale. Three buildings were ERTL and one Britains. It took me ten minutes to make the dealer it did not belong with the other three.

I will go back but will be prepared for not being a easy show to find things.
