Stad’s February Figure Finds New Mars Figure

Stad’s February Figure Finds New Mars Figure, I got a chance this month to see a source. Going through his material, I found items for customers and myself. Also, we have a preview from Mars Toys.

Stad’s February Figure Finds Lots of Fun

Stad's February Figure Finds Aurora Camelot
I never know what I will find when going out. One item I just picked up was these Aurora Camelot Figures. They were sold on a blister. They were sold in white hard plastic. The previous owner painted them. The question will be if someone will buy them painted.
Stad's February Figure Finds Mark McCain
I wonder the person who found this figure cried. As you can see that the Mark McCain figure is missing his left arm. Most people would consign this figure to a junk box. I decide to offer him on Ebay as a conversion figure. He sold in ten minutes.
Stad's February Figure Finds mystery figures
Going through a junk box, I found some interesting figures. The officer on the left I will talk more about in the next photo. The middle figure I believe is for a stagecoach. The two figures on the right are made of chalk.
Stad's February Figure Finds Bazar
The military figure I showed in the previous photo is a Hong Kong copy of an Italian police figure. I checked with Erwin on the figure. He identified as copies of a original figure made by an Italian company sold as Bazar set . Here is the seven-figure set.

Two final figures found in my purchases. The figure on the left was in a junk box. The figure on the right might be from a model kit. I will use him for a Mash setup.

What a great post. I would buy collector-painted figures (as long as it is a re-cast or modern production). Since I love conversions, I could always “re-repaint” it.
Had to laugh about the Mark McCain fig w missing arm. I have several figures by many makers that are suffering breakage because of cold/heat/age/chemical breakdowns.
So, yes, these figures are great for conversions. I have a bag of light-green Marx Vikings that have suffered this fate.
I have the set of waxy “Italian” polizia. I bought them on a blister card at a dollar store in 2000-ish. The plastic seemed to be a re-grind, and the detail was murky. I thought they may have been Russian-made. I had planned to paint them up as Afrika Korps (never did).
The Mars figures are spot on! Hope to see replies from Erwin, Greg Liska, A.J. Wayne, Ed Boris… really ANY of the original posters. I value these guy’s opinions.

The Mars gun looks like a well done version of the standard Krupp LG 40.
Shells for sure oversized as the LGs used standard lFH 18 shells with much shorter cartridge. Anyway the two make good loaders for 88mm or 75mm antitank guns and filling a gap there.
Figure to the left on last pic before Mars looks like to be a china copy of classic Airfix British paratrooper with helmet added.
Very interesting police set. Never seen before. Looks like there is a number of hidden Made in China treasures only made for a short time in small numbers.

  3. ERWIN SELL says:

Yes definitely the shells are wrong.Looks good x 88 or standart 105mm versus size in figure hands.
Not quite used by paras.Still poses looks good and cannon first time made x plastic 1/32 toy soldiers.
Mars is getting better.Still need work and better research.
    My thoughts.
    Best

  4. ERWIN SELL says:

I like the figure seating next to Aifix copy.I could use it x wounded or resting soldier w minor painting and conversion .
Does marx figures was broken or some one was trying make another pose by cutting arm?

  5. Wayne W says:

I love the poses even though the shells appear to be actually longer than the gun tube itself. What I do like is the number of crewmen are realistic for a combat representation of a gun crew in action, both in number and their poses. I would have placed the guy holding his ears to the right of the breech outside the trails representing an AG (Assistant Gunner) but understand his placement in the picture to display the gun itself.

  6. AJ says:

Mark McCain could have been savaged by the bite of a bored five year old!! Horrifying to think of how many Johnny Ringo and Matt Dillon figures lost body parts to little teeth in 1960!!

  7. Michael Kingston says:

I’m pretty certain the seated figure is a Verlinden resin Viet-Nam era soldier in a sleeping bag…

  8. TD Barnecut says:

The Camelot figures could be restored to clean new unpainted status by soaking a couple days in Krud Kutter, then washed with soap and warm water. Works wonders!
