April Plastic Figure Showcase Mars Figures

April Plastic Figure Showcase Mars
Our very good friend Peter Bergner got a preview from Mars of their German Volkssturm Defenders. The Volkssturm was a national militia formed near the end of the war. It was composed of men from the age of 16 to 60.
April Plastic Figure Showcase figures
The set has 8 poses
1. Figure with hat firing an automatic weapon
2. Throwing a grenade
3. A man standing with an automatic weapon at waist
4. woman firing a panzerfaust
5. Volksstrum marching with a panzerfaust on shoulder
6. M n standing with a rifle at waist pointing down.
7. The leader with a Schmeiser at waist
8. Standing firing rifle with a panzerfaust on his back.
The leader would be a single figure. Some of these figures could be adapted to be partisans.

Mystery Space Figures

Space figures
Marvin Pontiff acquired the space program type figures. The figures are 45mm high. Do you recognize them? Also, are there any other poses?

Cane Cavalry Figures

Cane Cavalry
Erwin Sell sent this photo of the six 54mm Cane cavalry figures. One weakness of the three figures is three are armed with Winchesters. This was not a regular weapon for the cavalry.

Finally, we have from Erwin a figure comparison of the Cane 54mm cavalry figure with a Britain’s detail and swoppet figure. as you can see they will mix in with little problems.

How We Are Doing

Since I have a little room. I thought to let you know how we are doing. We are doing as best as we can in this crazy world we have right now. Laurie gets cabin fever, so she goes along with me when I do essential jobs. She sits in the car while I go in

I am seeing places adding plastic sheets or plexiglass. My local post office has plastic sheets up, which I was glad to see. We are trying to support local restaurants. So stay safe everyone.

The MARS volkstum have multi purpose use easy,The Warsaw 1944 sublevacion ,many polish used german helmets and hats as well latest weapons .The figures have then mix with civilian clothing .Because polish also used the arm band with polish banner colors ,the band if not detailed with any letters can pass easy as that .Some other poses can be used as french ,east europe partisan as well.
The depiction of Volkssturmgewehr weapon is a very unique and as far i know first time ever depicted in plastic 1/32 figures. The set has a very good array poses choices in my view .The pose carrying panzerfaust in shoulder can be easy converted as to carry it in other hand while firing pistol with right or else .
Wonder the true quality of figures not painted as many MARS lack detail a lot in many figures/sets .Not all of course ,some figures sets are better than others .I do not like painted figures in new production as they cover the detail and else .Beside US collectors or most like then not painted or been shown as that .Regardless I appreciate admin-staff as usual always showing before noone the new releases from across world .
    My thoughts
    Best

The Mars Volkssturm look great will be getting four sets of them. Would love Mars to make ww2 resistance fighters and Greek Partisans and Tito’s army.

  3. Jeremy says:

Wow! This Volkssturm set looks great. The other preview of the Russian assault group by Mars looks great too. I second what James has mentioned above..a few Partisan sets..Yugoslav, Russian, and Ukrainian!

The level of detail does vary from set to set. Nevertheless, they make some great sets! I painted some of the Vietnam figures they did along with some of the Plastic Platoon to use in a table top role playing game and was quite pleased with them.

the space figures put me in mind of the Deluxe Reading sets, like the Operation X-500, but the poses aren’t quite right. see:
