Detlef’s Conversion Figure

Detlef Conversion
another person who does great conversions is Detlef Heerbrand. Detlef will take a damaged figure and repurpose him into something. A recent example is this Starlux priest. The may issue with this figure he is missing his cross.
Detlef's Druid
Detlef changed the Starlux priest into druid with his sword. Detlef plans to use with his Conte Collectibles Norman and Saxons.

Frederico’s Cane Pirate Figures

Cane pirates
Our new contributor Frederico Salvi has sent some photos of the Cane pirates. We have talked about them before. Still, these are interesting figures to look at. The figures were done by Elio Simonetti. Here we have the pirate captain with a female pirate

I love seeing old plastic salvaged and I really enjoy seeing new uses for them. I love the ‘Druid’ and the Brit soldier having tea. Fun stuff! Peter does paint very well, too!

  2. Jack Gibbons says:

Thank you for the comic book ad article and the power of marketing. I am still grateful that my dad talked me out of that Polaris Sub. That really was a lot of money back then. I am sure there would have been real disappointment when the box finally arrived.

We did have friends (the father) who ordered the monkey for $19.99 COD. It promptly terrified the family, attempted to bite them, viciously fought with the cat and dog, chewed off all the paint on the woodwork, refused to wear a diaper and threw his number 2 at them when he had a chance. This went on for about six months. The Columbus Zoo refused to accept the monkey as they already had many similar requests and no place to display “pets”. We were never told what happened to the monkey but it sure made us to not want one.

The pirate with pistol and circle round smaller base is NOT Cane at all .That figure about 60 mm is belong to a NON Cane set of 4 poses that Simonetti did carve -did a matrix art master in 19/20 cm tall statues first ,them develop two sets of 4 poses each with some variations ,one set to be done in plastic included this pose above and others poses such one with hook/hand that is very alike the one with Monkey from the CANE set but with out monkey ,then Simonetti repeated the poses with some variation as well for one of the 3- 4 poses set commission by Lone Star metal series The figure original made in metal or cast in metal under LONE STAR -1975 approx. were later sold as HK packed in US by SSKresge and with out LS logo words on it pack in blister card under SSKRESGE-Later known as Kmart .
The non CANE pose is obviously recognize by complete different base not used by CANE set pirates as well size ,CANE are 85/90 mm ,the other is 60/65 mm max .
CANE 5 poses set pirates also done by Simonetti is this

The 2 other poses belong to non CANE 4 poses set along with pose show here in this post in many colors smaller than Cane can be seen in this other post .It included the pose with hook derivate from pose with monkey from CANE 85 mm scale set and other .This same pose was done with monkey rise up or carry in arm of same pose in the metal LS commissioned set Simonetti did as well .
Here are two other pose plastic of the 4 non CANE set ,notice the same exact type round bases.
