Just got back from the MFCA show in Trevose.  Attached a couple of bad photos for you.  Frankly, the show was somewhat disappointing.  For plastic collectors, it would have been a bust, there was almost no plastic for sale, I think I attached photos of the only plastic dealers at the show.  Also, no junk boxes to root through!

The prices were high on anything I looked at.  I did buy two sizeable flats, but those things are always expensive.  On the other hand, there was a fellow with a good sized table selling dime stores.  As I’ve been doing some dime store repaints and minor conversions lately, I stopped to look.  He had two Grey Irons that I’ve always liked, marching in overcoats.  I looked at the price tag and nearly fainted; $34.  ” Everything is half price, ” he said.  They were in nice shape, but $34 for two?  No thanks, I’ll wait and get two that need new paint, pay ten bucks for the both of them and repaint myself.

The competition was up to its usual standards and volume, there was some good stuff there.

Really, my biggest disappointment was that I brought my god daughter’s 15-year-old son who has been dabbling in soldiers with me.  It was his first show and he was underwhelmed.  Luckily, the show did not seem to put him off.  He’s coming by tomorrow and if we have time, he’s going to work on a dime store German conversion I started for him.

Where would I find a list of upcoming 2019 North American shows?
Also you mentioned a disappointing show, is a list available that gives recommendations for the better shows?

  2. George Albany says:

To find shows, I just run toy soldier show and the current year through a search engine. I’ve never seen a list that evaluates shows.
